"On the night before my surgery, Dr. Najam came into my room to discuss my surgery with my wife and me. As he sat on my bed, Dr. Najam explained through a hand-made sketch that not only did he have to replace my aortic valve, but that there was a risk that he would also have to replace a part of my aortic root. It was all dependent upon the measurements.

Dr. Najam came back into my room a little while later after he learned that the radiologist has performed additional measurements on my CT Scan. He let me know that aortic root replacement was unlikely, but that he would have to perform aortaplasty to reduce the risk of an aneurysm. He also explained that my left bundle branch block condition would probably result in a pacemaker for me.

The surgery was a complete success with no complications. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results and the time Dr. Najam took with me before and after surgery. I know that there are excellent surgeons at the George Washington University Hospital, but I feel extremely lucky to have had my surgery performed by Dr. Najam."
