"Dr. David Kastl is an extremely competent cardiac surgeon who replaced my aortic valve and performed one LAD bypass. He was most informative and supportive during the entire course of treatment, and my recovery has been basically uneventful.

The care I received at Hilton Head Hospital from Dr. Kastl and his Cardiac Team was exceptional, and I would recommend them unconditionally."

"My surgery involved the replacement of my Aortic Valve and the removal of a large Ascending Aortic Aneurysm. Dr. Kastl spent time with my wife and I before surgery explaining to us the surgical procedures that were involved and what we should expect in reference to recovery. Dr. Kastl has a very comforting manner; he displays a genuine concern and caring, for both the patient and the patient’s family. Dr. Kastl took the time answered every question and concern that we had. At no time did we feel rushed or hurried. Without any hesitation I strongly recommend Dr. Kastl and his staff, his educational and professional experience and accomplishments makes him an easy choice for Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery."

"If you live in the Hilton Head area of South Carolina you do not have to go far to find quality health care. My wife and I moved to the Hilton Head area about two years ago. Before moving here, we lived in New Jersey and we had excellent large Medical Centers in New York City and Philadelphia. We used the local hospitals for minor emergency care but for most other medical issues we traveled to Philadelphia or New York City. Bigger is better, right? I recently learned that that I had an aneurysm on my ascending aorta, the aneurysm was 5.4cm in size, so it was going to require surgery in the near future and in addition to that I had an aortic valve that needed to be replaced. My first thought was to look for a surgeon in either Charleston or Savannah at one of the larger University Medical Centers. Both of these cities are close to home, Savannah about 25 minutes away and Charleston about an hour and 45 minutes away. But, sometimes bigger is not always better. University Medical Centers can also mean a resident doctor may be the person that does your surgery. Recovery caregivers may also be in training or over taxed with patient care. After consulting with my family doctor, Dr. Stephen Luther, I decided to make an appointment with Dr. David G. Kastl. Dr. Kastl is an accomplished Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon located right here in Hilton Head. His office is located at the Hilton Head Medical Center and he is on active medical staff at Hilton Head Hospital. When I met with Doctor Kastl for the first time after we discussed my condition and treatment options, I asked him about his educational and his medical training. I spoke with him about his work experience level and the medical centers he worked in. Then I asked him the most important question, why I should consider Hilton Head Hospital for cardiac surgery when I have so many larger hospitals and medical centers in the area. What I learned is that Hilton Head Hospital has a very dedicated cardiac care surgical team that is very caring and qualified, as well as a dedicated ICU cardiac care recovery team that gave me excellent post-operative care. Without any hesitation, I would say to you if you have the need for a skilled and experienced Cardiac Surgeon, and a skilled and experienced ICU Cardinal Care Team you need to consider Doctor David Kastl, and Hilton Head Hospital. Oh, by the way, my surgery was 4 weeks ago and I am feeling great. I plan on spending the next two weeks practicing my putting and short game and then swinging the big clubs with no restrictions."
