Steve,
After all these years--I had no idea!! Our prayers are with you. The only other tidbit of information I have is that I worked with a family when I was at UCLA (I was a part-time nanny to the kids and a part-time research asst. to the mom). After UCLA, I was on a SWA flight and was looking at the magazine --I turned he page and there was a full page photo of the son of the family. He was now 17 and it turned out he had a bad valve--the long and the short of it is that he had a valve replacement at 17, fully recovered and went on to take his high school team to the soccer championship, and then be valedictorian of is high school and go on to Harvard --not such a bad result! So, I have positive thoughts and high hopes for you.
Love,
Shannon

Hi Steve
Our thoughts and prayers are with you for a successful surgery and snappy recovery. My cousin's 21 year old daughter recently had an identical surgery it was just like you described 1-2-3 and recovery. They planned her's during her 6 week college break and bingo back to classes. Everything will be fine.

Hey Steve,
Welcome (soon) to the chest zipper club! We'll all be thinking about you next week, and then sometime soon you and I can compare scars (good thing yours isn't on your back - we'll be able to see it).
Listen to Anne and your doctor, give yourself plenty of rest, and make sure you have the "Serve Dad Whatever He Wants" shifts all set up for the boys during your recovery (and beyond).
Much love, amigo!

So, I wish I had something more witty to say, Steve.........but this time, I find myself a bit perplexed and at a loss for words, hard to believe coming from me. I just can't tell you enough how much we will be praying for you, Anne and the boys. Know that you will be in the prayers of the St. Bede 2nd and 5th grade intentions, which I like to believe go straight to God's ears if uttered by the mouths of kids. We love you all so much!
