Just heard the wonderful news that you are out of surgery. Now I can breathe! There is a collective sigh of relief as the news is getting around here at Hinsdale South. Great big smile and happy dance from me.
Praying that the Lord is directing the physician, nurses and medical staff to provide you with the finest care possible during your surgery and after too! And that those "ten trucks" won't come to visit! Thinking of you...

We'll you got a couple of extra days take in the snowy scenery and catch GMA! I know you are anxious for tomorrow and ready to get this done with. I am glad to hear you have been playing around with your Nook. For some easy/fun/silly reads check out Sophia Kinsella "Shop-a-holics series" ....what else did you expect from me :) Talk to you soon!
I know how hard it is waiting. The anxiety is often worse than the actual event. Just breathe deeply & enjoy your time now w/ your sister. You're in my thoughts as always. I hope you get in on Thurs. to end the postponements. Here's several book recommendations: "The Help", "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and "The Art of Racing the Rain." I thought all of these books were excellent! Love, Grace
I know you have heard this but hang in there. The waiting is miserable. My surgery was delayed a month because of the surgeon's schedule! I nearly crawled out of my skin. But in hind-site, it was worth it.
I know what you mean about it being hard on the people around you.
A good trilogy is "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. My 15 y.o. read them and insisted that I read them. They are intriguing but easy reads which I found very helpful during the early days of recovery.
It sounds like you have a beautiful support network.
Peace and positive energy to you and your family.
Hi Lori! I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying time with your sister and that it looks like things are a go for Thursday. I know that often the waiting is the worse part of everything. I have a great book suggestion for you. I am currently reading, "Dirty Secret" by Jessie Sholl. This is a nonfiction book written by a daughter of a hoarder. Her experiences an ability to trace back to behaviors that she remembers seeing in her mother while she (the author) was a child and how this has impacted her life. She has written this book from a perspective of love, while trying to have compassion. I think it's a really good book which offers some insight into compulsive behaviors. Let me know if you read it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! Book club???
Gotta run...I think we have a dept. meeting. You aren't missing anything here.
Good luck tomorrow....You will be in my thoughts and prayers!
Oh Lori, your surgery has been postponed! But at least, you enjoy your extra days with your husband and sister. Ü I enjoy reading your journals. I hope your surgery goes well without any complication. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
Please know you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery! You are well prepared and strong, so everything will go smoothly-- once they get to go ahead with it!
Let us know what you are reading, so we can read along with you-- could be fun doing a book club online!
Hi,Lori! Thanks for including me in your journal...I didn't know your surgery was postponed!! Now that's a bummer, for SURE! Guess I was lucky...mine happened on the planned day. But it's a good primer for staying flexible during this process when things don't go exactly as expected. I was advised before my surgery to be ready for surprises, and that was correct.
Remember...keep mental control and work WITH your body as it heals...go with it!! Realize you may feel helpless at first, but the body will do what is necessary, and you will be fine! Let it do its thing. Your good fitness level will be a big plus in healing!
Regarding the Nook:
Be sure to visit feedbooks.com. They have thousands of free books you can download. Just a caution--click on the book title to choose your format. Don't just click "download" or it won't be in the format you need.
Although I have a Kindle, feedbooks has free downloads for every digital device. Go to http://www.feedbooks.com/ and register. There's no charge. I found it easier to download the books to my computer and then to copy them to my device all at once rather than downloading them one at a time. The feedbooks web site is sort of hard to read on the small screen.
One of my friends has a Nook while I have Kindle. We both LOVE our e-readers.
Good luck on Thursday.
There is nothing I can say to you that would justify the amazing things you have done for me. I dont know what I would do without you..you have been such a huge part of my life...especially in the past year. I love you and I will be here for you throughout the entire process. xoxo
Hey Lor! Thanks for the blog so those of us far away and learn how you are doing. How nice it's worked out that you've got two unexpected days to play with your sis (and to respond to the email I sent you 2 weeks ago!) lol! Know that I'm with you, girl!
Hugs and Kisses to you all! Amy
Hard to wait but glad you and your sister have the time to visit and that she will be right by your side through this. My prayers are with you. Can't wait to see those pic's you asked her to take of you in Recovery! :)
This is awesome! We will all be able to share what is happening with the surgery. I know you probably feel like you've been dropped on your head with this postponement, but I believe things happen at the time they are supposed to. Now you get a few days to rest.
Hi Lori... Nice to know you have your journal to share with everyone. Sorry to hear your surgery postponed but hopefully sometime this week. Just relax and enjoy the company of your sister. Smile!
Once again a reminder that we can't be in control of the things that pop up in our lives! UGH! (Which I know is hard for you!!!) There's a reason for everything, so perhaps this extra time is needed for you to (try)to relax and do what you need to do before surgery! Thinking of you and miss you already! HUGS!
Nice blog and profile picture! Thank you for allowing me to travel this journey with you. What's few more days.... kick back and relax! It's good that the doctors do not consider your situation urgent. You are in good hands!
Good Luck Lori. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I know waiting is the worst part. We are 600 miles from home and if I get a call like you did it would be a diaster living in a hotel and extra week with our dog boarded and 4 cats living alone in our house. Good Luck!
