Lori,
I know how hard it is waiting. The anxiety is often worse than the actual event. Just breathe deeply & enjoy your time now w/ your sister. You're in my thoughts as always. I hope you get in on Thurs. to end the postponements. Here's several book recommendations: "The Help", "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and "The Art of Racing the Rain." I thought all of these books were excellent! Love, Grace

Lori:
I know you have heard this but hang in there. The waiting is miserable. My surgery was delayed a month because of the surgeon's schedule! I nearly crawled out of my skin. But in hind-site, it was worth it.
I know what you mean about it being hard on the people around you.
A good trilogy is "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. My 15 y.o. read them and insisted that I read them. They are intriguing but easy reads which I found very helpful during the early days of recovery.
It sounds like you have a beautiful support network.
Peace and positive energy to you and your family.

Hi Lori! I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying time with your sister and that it looks like things are a go for Thursday. I know that often the waiting is the worse part of everything. I have a great book suggestion for you. I am currently reading, "Dirty Secret" by Jessie Sholl. This is a nonfiction book written by a daughter of a hoarder. Her experiences an ability to trace back to behaviors that she remembers seeing in her mother while she (the author) was a child and how this has impacted her life. She has written this book from a perspective of love, while trying to have compassion. I think it's a really good book which offers some insight into compulsive behaviors. Let me know if you read it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! Book club???
Gotta run...I think we have a dept. meeting. You aren't missing anything here.
Good luck tomorrow....You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Oh Lori, your surgery has been postponed! But at least, you enjoy your extra days with your husband and sister. Ü I enjoy reading your journals. I hope your surgery goes well without any complication. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Please know you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery! You are well prepared and strong, so everything will go smoothly-- once they get to go ahead with it!

Hi,Lori! Thanks for including me in your journal...I didn't know your surgery was postponed!! Now that's a bummer, for SURE! Guess I was lucky...mine happened on the planned day. But it's a good primer for staying flexible during this process when things don't go exactly as expected. I was advised before my surgery to be ready for surprises, and that was correct.
Remember...keep mental control and work WITH your body as it heals...go with it!! Realize you may feel helpless at first, but the body will do what is necessary, and you will be fine! Let it do its thing. Your good fitness level will be a big plus in healing!

Regarding the Nook:
Be sure to visit feedbooks.com. They have thousands of free books you can download. Just a caution--click on the book title to choose your format. Don't just click "download" or it won't be in the format you need.
Although I have a Kindle, feedbooks has free downloads for every digital device. Go to http://www.feedbooks.com/ and register. There's no charge. I found it easier to download the books to my computer and then to copy them to my device all at once rather than downloading them one at a time. The feedbooks web site is sort of hard to read on the small screen.
One of my friends has a Nook while I have Kindle. We both LOVE our e-readers.
Good luck on Thursday.

It doesn't help the waiting anxiety, but the postponement for you probably meant that someone else's life was saved.

Once again a reminder that we can't be in control of the things that pop up in our lives! UGH! (Which I know is hard for you!!!) There's a reason for everything, so perhaps this extra time is needed for you to (try)to relax and do what you need to do before surgery! Thinking of you and miss you already! HUGS!

Good Luck Lori. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I know waiting is the worst part. We are 600 miles from home and if I get a call like you did it would be a diaster living in a hotel and extra week with our dog boarded and 4 cats living alone in our house. Good Luck!
