Hi LeAnh. Welcome to HVJ. I had my aortic valve replaced 4 weeks ago (7/21) as well as a bypass of my narrowed aorta. I think it was a good idea to stop watching those videos once you had the gist of what would happen. You'll learn a lot about your part in the process by reviewing the journals of others on this site. You'll also find a lot of support. I wish you the very best with your surgery & recovery. Joy Vera
Welcome! I had mitral valve replacement on July 20, 2010. I chose a cow valve and my surgeon said it should last close to 20 years. Recovery was not near as bad as I had anticipated. Good luck! I will continue to pray for you and follow you on your journey to better health.
Welcome to the Heart Valve Journal, looks like I'm the first to greet you. I had my valve surgery March 18th. I got a new mitral valve, a cow valve so I can really enjoy grass. Another valve repaired, the tricuspid. What kind of a valve will you be getting, tissue or mechanical? If you could get hold of some relaxation/guided imagery tapes to listen to a few times a day before your surgery, you will be less anxious.keep in touch.
