I am still recovering from a stroke that happened in September last year. My blood pressure was way elevated while I was in the gym doing yoga. Diagnosis was hemorrhage in the basal ganglia area. In May this year, I was hospitalized due to an A-Fib and diagnosed as having a Mitral Valve Regurgitation. I have had heart murmur for as long as I can remember, but it was never brought up as an issue. The surgery is recommended now because of the possibility to repair the mitral valve. With my history of stroke, I cannot take any blood-thinner that would go with the valve replacement. The big day is August 25, and my surgeon is Dr. Gaudiani. It seems that these medical mishaps happen after I come back from big trips... Well, I cant wait for the surgery to be over, so I can travel again :)
