About Me (In My Own Words)
I had rheumatic fever as a child, but had no problems other than heart murmers. After my 3rd child was born, my aortic valve started leaking, but I made it until I was 55 years old without any real problems. At that time I had my aortic valve replaced and came through the surgery with flying colors. Approximately 10 years later, I developed atrial fibrillation which progressed to the point of having multiple ablation proceedures. The AFib could not be controlled with meds, so at 65 years old, I had a total ablation and inherited a pacemaker. What a relief from the AFib!! Now at 68 years old, I need to have the mitral valve replaced and will be doing this next month at Cleveland Clinic. I have always been extremely active and love to dance, camp, hike and bicycle. I am looking forward to many more active years after my surgery.
