Carla, Emilyrae again - could would you please comment on the doctor's recommendation that you exercise and that you push it. Is this suppose to be good to lower your pulmonary pressure. Would appreciate your sharing. Thanks
Carla, Emilyrae here. I don't think I read what your plumonary pressure was at for the right heart cath. The TEE sounded ok 38 to 44 I will take anytime, bcause the normal is 35. I also have been told that echo's are pretty general and certainly not as good as the TEE or the Right Heart Cath.
If I remember correctly yours was normal right after surgery but a year later jumped up to 58. Mine jumped up in the 14 months prior to my surgery Jan 2010 it was 35 and March 2011 it was 58 - of course my Mitral valve regurg had gotten worse. I was so hoping it was going down after surgery but 2 months after surgery it is still 58 (on an echo)
I am now in cardiac rehab. I was very inteested in your doctor telling you to exercise regularlly and to push it. Did he tell you this could help the pulmonary pressure? Or what does spikes in your blood pressure have to do with it, if any? My BP has never been a problem - low 100/60 or 96/54 - those kind of reading.
Know I am full of questions, but not many on here are concerned with the pulmonary pressure problem. Most don't even know the significant of PA on the heart.
Carla...thank you so much for the update...God does answer prayers...sometimes not what we want to hear right away......but in the end it's always the Plan and the Path God showed us....blessings to all...hugs...ruthie in MN...
Great answer to prayer! You should probably stay away from the fried pickles and onion rings, and pulled pork at Park Ave BBQ (we were there last night and it wasn't as good as I remembered -- you're not missing anything).
Prayers are answered regarding getting through the test and the mitral valve repair is in good shape. But will continue to pray that your new regime will work. I exercise and walk almost everyday. Will you start out with cardiac rehab and then get a home program? My brother has been through cardiac rehab many times and it always seems to help him keep going. Talking about your test brought back memories of the every 4-6 week endoscopies I had. Numbing the throat and gag reflex, tube inserted, and no talking. I really don't miss them - but I'm sure I'll have to have them in the future. Mike Kelly has arranged for some of our classmates to get together next Saturday at the Red Rooster - I can't wait. I'll send you and email or letter about everything. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and please let me know how you're doing. Will do "The Bird" with Randy if he ever comes up north. Love,Nancy
Carla, I am so happy that you didn't have to go through surgery this time. Randy, you are a good guy. I know this has been very hard on you as well. Carla, I talk to your Mom every day and we talk over your situation and she seems very content with the results. She is quite the lady. She is 88 and clear as a bell. I pray that I do as well. Take care and know that we are all praying for you. Love, Sharon
God is very, very good all the time. How do people who don't know Him survive? A verse I just memorized seems to come to mind to me today.
Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?
Who is like you--
majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory,
Love you guys,
It is REALLY a GOOD morning, Carla, after reading the results of your TEE. Praise God! Thank you for posting the detailed description/journey through the procedure and letting us watch you as you go step by step with each detail. I am ECSTATIC with the results and relieved to know that the repair is in tact. Alleluia! An answer to prayer - thank you, Lord! Carla, your faithfulness and steadfastness in the midst of it all is an inspiration. God loves your constant faith, and I am blessed by your precious friendship. Love! Jo Davidson
Hey, enjoyed your journey through the heart cath. Because of my advanced liver disease I couldn't have sedatives - so I watched, asked questions, etc. except when having endoscopy - they put a tube through your mouth so you can't talk - but can watch. I survived another stress test last week. I have a hole between my atriums - so I got sever back spasms during the procedure - just breathed like when I was in labor. My test was normal - so I guess I can really handle stress (like the last 8 1/2 years. Praying for yu and your family. I hope the TEE went well and you get some answers today and may God help you with the choices you have. In prayers, nancy
Good Morning, Carla,
I am up and praying for you and the medical team during your TEE this morning at 7:30. I will be glad to learn the results from your conference at 9:00 A. God has given you a courageous spirit to be able to tolerate the right cath w/o a sedative!!! So happy it went well. God continues to bless you with medical care and physicians who are competent and my prayer is that he will continue to guide their minds, hearts, and hands to accomplish a complete recovery for you. Love you! Jo Davidson
I'm sorry to hear that you have to have all those tests. I know what's that like. You have to behave yourself during the tests and thinking about the results - many thoughts go through your mind. I pray for you daily that the Lord will find away to treat your problems and that your life will go on as planned. Keep me posted. Love,
Carla, thanks for the thorough, detailed information. Being in the same position as you right now, I am most interested in seeing what CCF does...then we can compare notes - I went up for a 2 month check September 16..
Frank had a right heart cath a few weeks ago, it is not as invasive as when they do a left one. The results may come out better than the echo showed, Frank's did. The docs are now saying that the echo is not as accurate as they thought it was but it does give them some comparison to go by after the cath. Again our prayers are with you.
Annette & Frank Rudl
Carla and Randy, We were not happy to hear this latest with you and we will be praying for God to work His will in this newest development. We pray God's hand will work mightily through your Doctors. You are special to Him and to us! Love you both, John and Pat Sitton
Carla, you are on my mind and in my prayers - I will be anxious to hear the results of your visits with CCF. Who is your doctor there - I have Dr. Jaber.
I'm puzzled about my pulmonary pressure not going down after mitral valve surgery in July - mine is 58 - 61 - that is what it was before surgery and still is.. Somewhat disappointing but I'm hoping and praying that in time it will go down. "Trust in the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding" "I know what plans I have for you, and they are to prosper you"
I know you will be glad to get some answers though - that is my problem now, I would like answers, but you are going to the best place to get them. Keep us posted.
Hi Carla, I was so happy to receive your posting via email. I had intended to ask you in Precepts if you would be posting to your journal this week during testing at CCF, but I got busy and you left before I could ask you, and voila!!!! It appeared on my screen this AM. Thank you for the update. You were already on my prayer list, and I have been praying for you each morning during my Quiet Time with the Lord. Now I have more specific information to lift up to Him. Know that you are on my mind and in my heart, Precious Friend, and I look forward to learning about your results at the Clinic. Love, Love, Jo D.
So sorry to hear of your new heart issues. You did mention the shortness of breath when I saw you. What a great time us four ladies had. I will continue to pray for you that everything will work out. I too have some new health issues since my transplant and am currently undergoing tests. I haven't had any luck yet finding a job - but I'll keep trying. Enjoyed your new photos - nice looking family.Sean and family are busy. The girls are enjoying school. Pollee and Sean are planning to go to Green Bay for the Packer/Viking game with another couple who are big Vikings fans. The family is planning to go on a 7 day cruise around Thanksgiving with another family - the girls are really excited. Me? No plans for any trips to anywhere except medical. Think positive and praying. Nancy
Seems some of the "old timers" have been checking in and some are having problems, what's with that? Glad you will be going to the CC, we both know how great they are. Am praying for wisdom for the staff and good results for you, maybe just a new medication, wouldn't that be the best? God bless.
Carla, your prayer request in the last paragraph of your journal today is our prayer for you and those who will be evaluating and treating you. Also praying for peace for Randy and the family as once again they support you. Love, Mary Llew and Ben

Wow! It's hard to believe it's been a year since your surgery! I'm continually amazed by what man has learned about the human body and how to repair it. Even more amazed by God's graciousness toward us and his amazing design.
Carla, Thank you for the update report so that we may praise the Lord with you! What a mighty God we serve! May your health continue to improve and may we all keep our hearts and minds focused on the Lord who gives us all we need for life and godliness! Rejoicing with you, Joyce D
It's amazing how quickly the time has flown by. Guess we're too busy enjoying life to think about it. Glad you're doing well and I wish continued good health. I remember hoping you'd have the stamina for your "camp" last year and here you are looking forward to a second one---enjoy! Yes, praise God.
It's so nice to see how well everyone from last year is doing. You, Fran, Sandy, Captain Bill, Duane and others I'm sure I'm forgetting were having your surgeries when I first came to HVJ and you were all so inspiring to me as I prepared for mine.
Thought I would take a minute to drop by and check on how you are doing since your last surgery. I pray you are continuing to improve and finally have the confidence in your health to move on. Just want you to know you are in my prayers and thoughts.
Hi Csrla....so very happy to hear from you....and how wonderful it is that you keep everyone updated.....here in Mn.....we have plenty of snow......kinda when we were little girls...and all the snow hills.....Florida sounds pretty good right about now....hugs....ruthie....Mn...
Hi Carla: We appreciate being able to keep updated on your progress. So thankful you have come through your surgeries so well, PTL indeed! Talk with your mom once in awhile, and sounds like she is going to try to weather it out in Wisconsin this year, huh! Wonderful to see the pictures of your beautiful family and fun times together. God's blessings on you and your family in the New Year!
Great to hear from you and very happy and grateful to see you are recovering well from yet something else. Didn't know you had to go through another surgery. Have been keeping all my HVJ friends in my daily prayers. I miss the daily journal but it's nice to be able to catch up now and then. Be well and stay in touch. Happy and healthy new year.
