Hello David. Thank you for posting for Robyn and yourself. This is probably one of the hardest things for you to focus on while still staying on top of all that is going on around you and Robyn and her continued care. Your honesty and truth is appreciated as it is telling us as her heart brothers and sisters that you are with her and her surgeon and team are making her their priority and are on top of things. This is good to hear and I hope that they are able to work all of their skills together to guide her to a place where she can begin recovering. You have to make sure you take care of yourself too as you are waiting. I know this wasn't what either of you were expecting but I talked to Robyn the day before She went in and the Woman sounded like a very spirited-positive FIGHTER! You said you were going to read her
the posts from the community and I want her to know that our prayers and thoughts are with you both now and will continue until you are given the ok to take her home to start her recovery. We are looking forward to hearing about her healing time and pray to God and this Universe that the healing has begun already as her beautiful Heart fights to settle back into safety and has a good strong healthy beat. My heart aches for the both of you having to go through this but have Faith and know we care and support you both in any way we can. David. If you get the chance to, Let her know I am praying for the beautifully winged angels that I felt stood guard over me at my "awakening" after surgery to be at her side now. Let her know that Terrie the "story teller" is looking forward to getting to know her and lending support to her as she heals! Take care and God Bless.......

Hi David. This is also a Robin only I live in Arizona. I will be praying for you and Robyn. That God would touch and heal her heart and body, and that He would hide you in the shelter of His big strong arms, and bring you peace and strength. Let us know what you both need. You are a part of an amazing community here and we do what we can to encourage and help our fellow brothers and sisters and their family and friends.
Your heart sister,
Robin

Robyn and family: Don't give up. Prayers can get us thru a lot. My husband had aortic stenosis and had mechanical aortic heart valve replacement in 1991 at the Texas Heart Institute. Lots of complications. Bleeding was a major problem. He had 13 units of blood. Seems impossible but he completely recovered. He was 58 at the time. He suddenly passed away in 2014 with a 100% clogged artery at the age of 79. The St Jude heart valve wasn't the problem. It was still functioning until he had the massive heart attack. My sincere prayers are with you all. I've been there I know what you are going thru.

I had aortic valve replacement almost 6 years ago now. Was discovered at a new Dr..he saved my life by sending me immediately to a heart Dr. and surgeon. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Robyn, I hope your surgery went well and you are now recovering. I also had a faulty valve. I had an anuersym 11 years ago that was found by accident. Thank God it was found. Then march 3 of this year they finally replaced it. All is well. Just listen to your body and don't rush the recovery.

Hello there Robyn- Thinking of you today as you are nearing your "Big Day" and I am feeling excited that you will be getting to join the "recovery Gang" soon! It is good that you are practicing with your spirometer(I did the same thing prior to my surgery) and it is a good thing to do as I went in a "Pro" so that when I was encouraged at the hospital to use is while sitting up in the "side chair" I would amaze them with my expertise! Especially since you had a cough going on which I hope will get even less a problem for you by Monday morning. I get up here in California at 2:30 a.m. and usually work with my first cup of coffee on an art project
in my kitchen. I will make sure it is a prayer time for you and Jason, as I begin the day. I hope you enjoy your weekend and have a nice Easter and your nerves stay in check as a new healthier life is just around the corner and I believe you will do really well and be back to encouraging others soon as you start your own recovery.
When you get to when you can post for yourself again I hope to read that you found that like for most of us the waiting was worse than the surgery itself. Take care.

Hi Robin, I have only recently discovered this site. Just wanted to say that I had heart surgery February 11, 2015 at Piedmont Heart and had a positive experience. Mine was mitral and tricuspid valve repair. My surgeon was Dr. Federico Milla--think your surgeon may be part of the same practice. I am wishing you the best. Hope your cold is improved and that all goes well for you. Please email me if you have any questions about my experience--will gladly share. Ann Keating

Robyn- Hope you get a handle on that cold quickly. If you are lucky it will pass in time for you to carry on with the schedule for surgery.
I was glad to read that you had sought some help with the anxiety as the majority of us have done prior to surgery. I know you don't need to hear this but will say it anyway. The less stress and anxiety you can have the better you will do entering into your surgery and the more you will help yourself with a better chance of doing well in recovery. One thing I know for sure is that once you have waken up from your surgery you will be able to let go of so much of the anxiousness that came from all the waiting as you will know from the tips of your toes to the top of your head that you are "on the other side" and everything from the waking up and through the months of your recovery will be knowing deep inside that this is your healing time. Time to settle into giving your "self" the time it needs to heal. Time to look forward to the life you had before all of the unsettling things that overtook your consciousness once having to face the fact you were having OHS. All of the feelings that progressed into all of the "what ifs" anxious hours of questioning and thinking and lack of sleep will soon be hours of relief......deep relief and joy that it is done and over with. I also think that with all of the help you can get from the community here with any questions or feelings can and will be a tremendous help to you as you make you way into and out from the surgery. I hope you will continue to share your feelings and questions with us here and hope we can help you ready yourself. What we all seem to agree with pretty much about surgery is the fact that the wait is the worst and I think you will find this true as well one day! Hope so.
So Robyn-Let us help you if we can and know there are no questions here that we won't try to answer or direct you to the proper answer. If there is something too personal to ask on site feel free to email me and I will see if I can help. (tsyvertsen1@sbcglobal.net) You take care. Be Well.
