Deena Elani Richard, I took it before surgery. I had to try a couple of different statins, before I got one that did not make my nerves/muscles literally jerk. I think I know where you are going. Since I took it before the surgery, it is less likely the culprit, unless some type of polypharmacy issue.

Deena Elani Thanks Johnny for the well wishes. I saw one of your recent questions regarding calcification. My cardiologist and surgeon both used my serial echos over the last five years to track my MV calcification. If you have severe MV calcification, your cardiologist would have told you. I was telling you about mine to make a point about your being able to get a MV repair, not a replacement, because my MV was quite “damaged”.
Also, it is really important to get the TV repaired/replaced at the same time. Success rates are higher if you do so.

Deena Elani Hi Cameron,
Stayed in NYC seven nights.
Stayed 5 days in hospital, plus surgical day. Stayed in Mariott Courtyard, East 92nd Street, as recommended. Good hotel, got a corner room, NYC rooms run small! Seamless management experience of my admission, discharge and recovery from Mt Sinai side. Only “hassle” is the post surgical visit, but Mt Sinai can offer a zoom-based visit, etc.
Dont worry at all about getting covid in hospital. -totally on it!!

Been too cold and rainy here to walk outside and the house is small and hard to wander around for long enough. Today so far just about six and a half minutes. Adding more daily. Cardiologist 9th and last surgeon appointment the 12th. Just can't wait to drive...lol

btw, for what it's worth, my pain level on 1-10 scale never was more than a 2. I literally never had a problem in my chest area. My legs had more pain than chest from harvesting for the bypass's and that pain was minimal. Thinking I took Tylenol for maybe not more than couple weeks after. Now, I did however have a small part of my incision not heal correctly and hyper granulate or something like that. It caused me to have to go back and get it treated with silver nitrate.......and THAT , was something that I will remember most of all!!!!

Hello Deena - my chest pain was about a 2 out of 10 two days post op. They had me sitting up in a recliner the day after. Fentanyl drip was good for the first few days and I was walking to the bathroom with help 2 days after. It’s been almost five weeks now and I feel great! I walk two miles a day and stretching before with no pain. I’ll be doing three miles next week. I had no other option but to have my sternum opened up with an aneurysm the diameter of a pop can and the aorta valve was the same size as a can. That was extremely painful and uncomfortable. The most painful part for me is being an A type personality and not driving for six weeks. Best wishes, stay strong, and positive. Attitude is everything! You can do this!
David Smith Stay strong Deena! It will be over before you know it!

I am new to using this, as well as not into the social internet.
I fought for over a year with the head of Cardiology at Rush Univiersity where they finally submitted to the test i had been requesting because of such severe fatigue.
In the last step prior to TAVR, they did a 3D CT of my heart.
Seeing the surgeon in days following, I looked into the face of a frightened Surgeon as he said he will not be able to do TAVE because of my Severe Calcification and obstructions. He was followed by a Cardiac Surgeon to discuss with me Open Heart Surgery in 2 weeks.
I kept doing my homework and by the luck of my google searches found Dr Balkhy and his non-invasive heart surgeries.
US News & World Report and other health companies do not even discuss this or list it, while Dr Balkhy in October completed his 2000 Da Vinci Robotic and i don't know how many minimal evasive operations he has completed, but when i asked him how long he had been doing them, he said since 2002.
I wish you only the best, and not have to go through what my mother did over 45 years ago and a very speedy recovery.
Gratefully

Leo Johnson Deena: I believe your procedure will be similar to mine 17 days ago. My surgeon, Dr McCarthy has done over 5,000 of these procedures. Hi Deena
I was diagnosed with severe MVR last March & was fortunate enough to have some time to do my research before my Robotic repair surgery 3/2/20.
Besides having to educate myself I also needed to interview cardiologists & surgeons until I knew it was the right thing to do NOW as I had no symptoms.( I didn’t even know how my mitral valve worked)
I was very surprised once I saw my xrays of my heart 1 week prior - 1 day after & then 1 week after. I couldn’t believe how much it deflated in just 1 week. So grateful I had it done as I feel I have avoided anymore
damage by all that extra stress on my heart.
You will know when it’s time.. just don’t stop doing the footwork. I’m speaking from experience the fear prior was way worse than the actual procedure.
Big hug to you... looking forward to hearing your decision.
