"Four years ago I had my first aortic valve replacement surgery done at Mass General by Dr. MacGillivrey. The operation went well as did post op recovery. After cardiac rehab and six months I was back to normal.

This past spring I wasn't feeling well. Low BP readings 110/ 45 and below indicated a leaking valve. Echo tests revealed that the valve had been damaged and a second cow valve would be needed. I stayed with Mass General and Dr. MacGillivrey confident that the original failure was due to a faulty valve and not surgical mistakes. Once again all went well with the procedure and six months later I am feeling better each day, I can't express how terrific my care was at MGH from start to finish. Hopefully with a St. Jude's valve in place this time around I will fare better."

"Dr. Macgillivray was fantastic from start to finish. He spent an hour plus during my pre-op visit and sat down and listened to my concerns and answered every question thoroughly. He had patients in the waiting room and at no time did I feel that he wanted to leave. After surgery he came by every day to check on me. I don't know how he did it but I had very little pain. I left the hospital in 4 days and did not need any pain medication. I would recommend him to anyone."

"Dr Macgillivray is an excellent surgeon who relates well with his patients. He spoke with me on a daily basis during my 5 post op days in the hospital. I have now had 2 follow-up echocardiograms and they confirm my own feeling that everything has gone very well. His support team was also first rate."

"Dr. Macgillivary is the BEST. An excellent bedside manner, serious when he needed to be and compassionate to not only me but my immediate family and care givers. I'm very happy with the result. Post-op, he stopped by everyday as did my Cardiologist and Anesthesiologist. Combined, they all made a very scary experience more comfortable to deal with."
