Dr. Michael Seitz, Heart Surgeon
Dr. Michael Seitz
Heart Surgeon
"Being told that you need open-heart surgery is one of the most confronting experiences a person can face. I was referred by Professor John Amerena (Geelong Australia) to Dr. Michael Seitz, and from our very first consultation, I knew I was in capable hands.
Dr. Seitz was honest, compassionate, and exceptionally thorough in explaining the procedure, the potential risks, and the expected outcomes. He took the time to answer every question my wife and I had, never making us feel rushed. His clear communication and genuine care gave us both the confidence and reassurance that he was the right surgeon for me. During my pre-operative assessment, it became clear that my condition was more complex than initially thought.
In addition to repairing a heart valve, further procedures were required, which meant the operation took considerably longer than expected. Thanks to Dr. Seitz's expertise, everything that was needed was successfully completed. I was especially grateful that both valves could be repaired rather than replaced, and that my bypass was performed using internal vessels, avoiding the need to harvest veins from my arms or legs.
His attention to detail extended beyond the surgery itself. My sternotomy incision has healed remarkably well and is now barely noticeable—a testament to the precision of his work (with perhaps a little help from some chest hair!). I will always be deeply grateful to Dr. Seitz for his exceptional surgical skill, professionalism, and the care he showed throughout this journey. He quite literally gave me a second chance, and for that, I cannot thank him enough."
