Dr. Juan Pablo Umana, heart surgeon, graduated from Universidad Del Rosario, Medicine in 1989.
After Dr. Umana earned his medical degree, he completed a research fellowship in liver transplantation in Birmingham, England. Next, he pursued his general surgery training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City in 1999 and continued his advanced training in cardiothoracic transplantation and cardiovascular surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine where he completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency in 2002.
Dr. Umana is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Umana is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, and the 21st Century Cardiothoracic Surgery Society. He is a member of the Board of the Heart Valve Society and is also active with the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Umana has received numerous honors and awards including the following:
