Dr. Gianluca Torregrossa, heart surgeon, graduated from Universita Di Padova Faculty of Medicine in 2006.
After medical school, Dr. Torregrossa completed a Cardiac Surgery Residency at Universita Degli Studi Di Padova in 2012 and a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2016.
At the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Torregrossa is the Director of Robotic Coronary Artery Surgery in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. Specific to heart valve disease, Dr. Torregrossa uses various minimally-invasive, robotic and traditional techniques to treat patients needing mitral valve repair and mitral valve replacement operations. Dr. Torregrossa has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed scientific publications, book chapters, and invited reviews. He is a frequently invited speaker at national and international cardiovascular meetings including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Society of Robotic Surgery.
Throughout his extraordinary career, Dr. Torregrossa has achieved many accolades and achievements including:
Internationally recognized specialist in robotic and minimally invasive coronary artery bypass surgery
Leader in the development and adoption of totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB)
Performed more than 250 major cardiac operations annually, including one of the largest robotic coronary surgery experiences in North America
Program Director and Chair of the International Coronary Congress
Course Director for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Robotic Cardiac Surgery Workshop
