"I had a heart valve surgery on March 24, 2025. The surgery was very successful. Thanks to Dr. Shah and his team.
Dr. Shah came to check on me while I was in the hospital. He has good bedside manner. My surgery involved aortic and mitral valves replacement, tricuspid valve repair, Maze procedure, and three other smaller procedures. From his Cardiac Surgery Operative Report, I'm impressed Dr. Shah was very meticulous about every task that needed to be done. This is a long and complicated surgery.
Dr. Shah performed an A+ job. During the surgery, Dr. Shah found a hole (atrial septal defect), likely from prior mitral valvuloplasty. He closed it as well. This was not in the original plan and I appreciate his extra effort.
I'm so glad I was in good hands. I was able to walk next day after the surgery. My recovery has been great. I'm making progress everyday. I highly recommend Dr. Shah."

"I am more than impressed by Dr. Shaw, my surgeon and the entire team. My cardiologist referred me here when she determined I needed to have the mitral valve repair. Dr. Shaw met with me personally and explained exactly what the procedure would entail and how he would prefer to do it - robotically if I would qualify. This involved getting extra diagnostics done which I was happy to do.
He also explained to me that if/when the robot is in there they have to switch and open up the sternum, I would be okay with that. He also went over the different valve replacement options which also could happen if they were not able to repair. All of this was so impressive as it managed all my expectations and took any uncertainty off the table.
All of the appointments leading up to the surgery with his team in the office were flawless and handled with compassion and knowledge. Follow up after surgery was as expected from all the pre-op appointments. Dr. Shaw visited me in the hospital and his team came in regularly.
In the 5 days I was recovering at the hospital, they checked everything leading up to the benchmarks to getting me released from the hospital in exactly the time frame they said. Post-surgery follow-up was also very proactive. The team called me to set up the appointments. I'm happy to say I just passed my 4-month post surgery appointment with flying colors and I'm now cleared for 8 months when I will have the one-year follow-up. All the post-op appointments were handled professionally and I was so impressed with how patient they were as I had a long list of questions at each of these appointments.
Lastly, but not in order of this review, was that after the surgery I had so many questions. I would call on a regular basis as I would have a pain here or there or a question regarding activity. The nurse navigator who was assigned to my case was always right on it and if she wasn't available a physician's assistant was always available to talk on the phone or return my call.
This team is absolutely "top notch" and I was lucky my cardiologist recommended them. "

I did have a post operative brief episode at a follow-up visit with staff where my blood pressure unexpectedly dropped. Dr. Shah immediately was called and came to my aid while keeping me calm. "I had 2 valves leaking. Dr. Shah clipped repaired the mitral and replaced the tricuspid with artificial valve as it was leaking too bad. Also got a heart bypass. I was on table for about 8 hours.
The staff were all great! I was transferred to the third floor as I was recovering and as I progressed. The third floor is the physical therapy floor for all therapies to ready you for going home.
I was able to stay at the hospital and not go to another physical therapy facility. for my recovery. Dr . Shah was surprised I recovered so well and fast as I did. My incision healed so good the nurses and doctor was surprised. It's been 6 months and at end of August I was doing pretty much all of my easy chores except reaching up and lifting things over 10 pounds. Dr. Shah and all the staff are very thorough with every process for recovery and are all trained to help you recover faster I think.
I'd recommend Dr. Shah for any heart procedure and all the staff."
