Reflections: My Journey with the American Heart Association
Journal posted on May 17, 2015
On May 17th. 2010: I contacted one of the representatives with the American Heart Association ( located in Marietta, GA) re: sharing my heart story &volunteer opportunities throughout our community to help encourage heart/stroke patients. I thank God for giving me the courage to breakdown the wall of denial, accept what took place ( new valve in my heart which is mechanical & a pace maker)to press through the low moments, maintain a positive outlook on life, focus on my blessings, advocate for the uninsured, promote heart awareness, raise funds to support medical research etc.
At the beginning of my journey ( 73 months ago), I struggled with accepting the changes within my body ( mechanical valve in my heart plus a pace maker). I asked God to help me break down the wall of denial , give me the strength to press through the low moments: & he answered my prayer: that’s when I realized : nothing is too hard for God”. I remain committed to using my gift of service to help heart/stroke patients cope with the recovery process.
Have a lovely day
