My mother had heart surgery in 1957. Yes you read that right. She turned blue from pheno-barbitol. Funny how much I remember from when I was 11 and I can't remember what I had for breakfast. I pray that each day will be twice as good as the day before.

Hi Thomas,
That was a really good laugh at your expense. Thanks for sharing. I've had to call the hospital myself a couple of times since returning home and while I feel silly, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Keep your sense of humor - it helps. Merry Christmas. Cheryl, Ontario

The blue hands story is funny after the cause is found. Maybe this will be your "Blue Christmas"! Elvis Presley has a song about one. Hope tonights sleep is better and that the blood pressure perks up. Recovery is such an interesting journey for everyone.

Good Morning! Hope you are feeling less and less like a Mac Truck ran over you. Isn't it amazing how good a shower can feel when you haven't been allowed to have one for awhile. I hope you make the three lap trip today and that the weather cooperates for your trip home. No snow in our part (Pellissipi Parkway and Northshore)of Knoxville. Keeping your family in prayer.

Kim and Thomas,
I saw on Facebook that Thomas is recovering well from surgery. I'm am very happy that things went well and it sounds like you guys had a great experience at Vandy. I'm glad that Rick Briggs was able to help, as well. He is a great guy and knows his stuff!! If I can be of any help, please let me know. I don't know nothing about no hearts, but would be happy to assist in any way. Julie and I are praying for you. Get well soon.

Hello Deakins Family,

Kellie told me you left a message on her facebook page. Now i'm gonna need you healthy I'm thinking the US Open at Pebble Beach this year buddy. Were thinking about you and the family. I haven't had a chance to talk to you much since Augusta that was a great trip. I'm still working for AT&T but now I have the Wal-Mart account what was I thinking? With all this social networking technology you might as well have your own reality show Life with the Deakins. Haha I could be the crazy friend from Arkansas that makes a guest appearance. Take care of yourself and well talk soon.

Happy Holidays Wade,Kellie and Nathan

Hi Thomas and Kim,
Technology is a wonderful thing, finally read your entries and am glad to know you're doing well. I have thought of you all often and kept praying. We look forward to catching up with you when you get home. re: green veggies and coumadin--remember it's not that you can't eat them, you just have to have consistent amounts--tell your kids the whole family must support dad and eat broccoli every day! haha

Thomas and Kim,

I just wanted to let you know that your Guestbook has touched, moved and inspired me.

When I created Heart Valve Journals, I "dreamed" that friends and families would actively support their patients in this unique online setting.

Thanks to you and your support group... My dreams have turned into reality.

Much love,

Adam Pick

P.S. Any chance you can upload some pictures, so that we can see Thomas doing laps - as he begins his marathon training?

Kim, I know there is no sarcasm in your comment about "home being a circus" since our families are the same size and also have four rings performing at any given time! I know you both miss your little clowns terribly and we will pray that Thomas will continue to progress and hopefully be back at home by Christmas.
Praying for you as well, thanks for the updates to everyone, praying for you often.

Your latest post about receiving blood is so true! I received a note from our favorite FPS teacher Jan Green saying she donated at the drive for Alexander - not at CUMC, but at the Medic location on Kingston Pike. The children and I are coming thru Nashville on Sunday - can I bring you and Thomas anything? Just let me know - anything big or small; even room for 2 more passengers if needed!!!! Much love and hugs to both of you!

I just heard about your surgery . . . I am missing the craziness of the Deakins' family without your girls in my class. You and your family our in my prayers. I look forward to your updates. Please let me know if I can do anything. I know you will have a wonderful holiday season since I hear you will be coming home a few days before Christmas.
