Hello BobO and Linda!
And what a delightful Village it is!
Glad to hear from you Bob. I think the stress of a Funeral (sorry to hear) is enough added stress that you didn't need to your body to mess with your sleep. Now that you are home take care
to wind down on your "porch" with Linda and you will be much improved in the sleep area. Yes, sleep problems are a part of the stenosis.
I woke up in the middle of the night Friday night and kept talking to Gary about "things" until we both fell asleep somewhere around 6a.m and slept in until 9 a.m. Not the usual but it has been in the 100 degrees here in Manteca which is not conducive to good sleeping anyway!
Cooling down today and we can feel it. Yeah! Will be looking forward to your post! Take care you two! Thinking of you-

Hi Terrie
wow lucky you still fit with op just around the corner. I cant do anything get out of breath and so tired all the time. Exhausted most days at work by 2pm. Not scared and being positive for months wow well done you. I go through stages. I was ok up till Wed when I got a call for my pre op chat app on wed at Papworth cambs UK. Now I know who my surgeon is going to be so this helps a lot. Your journals are uplifting and helpful. Like most people on this site its great to read the honesty in peoples thoughts as they write..After all we are all walking more or less the same path before and after surgery. By sharing helps many like myself just starting out on to this path in life. I only found out about my valve 17th of June this year after a very bad bout of flue and serious cough I had. If not for that and the dr sending me straight to get a chest xray. I may have never found out and everything has been rushed.Had appointments every couple of weeks since that Drs app in April. I'm blessed that she sent me that day.She has saved my life I will be forever grateful.
Life is so precious sometimes we need a little reminder of that. I cant wait to feel fit again and tell the world lol.
All the best to you keep smiling keep positive.

Terrie Syvertsen Hello again Kelly. Nice hearing from another member "across the pond!"
I have to set the record straight about being fit.... Not fit by any means at this point in my life overweight and have been working on it through all of the symptoms of the past months. As you know, hard to exercise when your are always tired and breathless which is how I have come to be of late too.
I also had a terrible dose of the flu back in March which ended up at the ER. These months later because of the upcoming surgery I had to recently have 3 teeth extracted as there wasn't enough time for root canals and healing for the surgery which has to be done. Waiting isn't an issue. So that also has had an influence on dieting and exercise as I have been looking like a blue-eyed chipmunk for weeks and just in time for my pre-op on the 15th. The rate we are going we may be headed for surgery close to one another!
So I basically will bike my 6 miles today, walk slowly to the door, up one stair and plant myself down in my new power lift chair and "calm down"! It is the one thing I am trying to do every day that I can as walking in the heat here in California (100)is out of the question. However after my ride in a few minute(which I have put off all morning) I may end up with our spaniel(Hunter) out in his wading pool! As soon as I am healed up I will be going back to swimming laps in the pool and biking outdoors(Universe and God willing) Then on to Kayaking again with my husband in one of the beautiful lakes! Yes Life is Precious and we will feel great again one day. On that note
I am headed off the computer for a bit and wishing and praying for all of our heart brothers and sisters out there that they are doing well!
Off to the bike! Take care and keep posting! Your heart-Sister, Terrie

Well now to answer your questions: I chose another tissue valve because I can't tolerate repetitive noises and I can never level out on blood thinners... Really caused me serious problems both times after my surgeries! But my cardiologist did go with a different brand this time :) an Edwards . Also I have just finally started to walk some after they drained the fluid (a liter) from around my left lung. I'm finally feeling good!! Actually climbed 3 flights of stairs yesterday and barely out of breath!!! Felt great and made me realize I was definitely ready for more exercise!! I have about 50 lbs to lose and have already dropped 10 since surgery . I was 40 lbs lighter before my first surgery so I know the weight has made this recovery a bit harder :( becoming active again is great!
So you're an artist!!! So am I !! Finally started painting ( oils, representational painter) again last week! Am doing a series on apples :) just fooling around . Never been much on putting my experiences into paintings but have been giving it some thought lately!! You've now inspired me to try !! I'd love to see your sketches!! So we're not only heart sisters but art sisters too !!! How lucky are we!!!! Love and hugs!!

First off it is great that you are losing weight.(one of my concerns before surgery is that I am overweight more than 50 lbs. but have been steadily making every effort to drop weight slowly which I am doing. Making progress and will continue to lose until I am at a healthier weight. So good going.
Glad your fluid problem seems to be under control and that you are exercising and feeling like you can do more. That is a good sign of your recovery.
3 flights of stairs! I am winded just thinking about it, chuckle. Looking forward to that change after surgery and getting back into the water again!
You should indeed try putting your heart experiences into a painting or two as I would imagine there are clusters of feelings roaming around your creative brain that should be put to canvas! You Go Girl!
Haven't had the guts to do oils but have dabbled in water color off and on and really want to get into it after surgery as I am now retired and have time after the big event. I will be happy to send photos of my work via email if you want to share yours.
Have to go bike as I put it off as my husband has been bugging me all morning to do stuff before it got too hot.
So I am throwing in a movie to take my mind off the miles before it gets any hotter out where I bike in the garage conversion. Later heart sister! Terrie

Terrie Syvertsen Hello back at ya! Yes I am glad the time is here as well! I haven't been afraid in months but apprehensive at most. I really believe what the Universe and God have in store for me is "the plan". Like many have sais we don't have a choice when our hearts progressively get more damaged if we ignore or fight what we are told.
The chance to get this out of the way gives me the opportunity to face other issues as well so that I am pretty intent on just "moving forward" with what has to be! What made you decide to go ahead with another Bovine valve? I probably read it already but thought I would put it out there as I would have done the same thing given the choice and by the way hoping not to go thru 2 surgeries in succession like you did, no offense!!!
I have to say that until I hit this site one day and started to fully understand the many different heart issues I wasn't really getting how vast heart illnesses were.
An ocean of hearts
adrift on the seas
swimming together
with this warm summer breeze!
I am really glad to have met you too Lynn. An Angel I am not but that is a sweet image! FIrst smile of the morning!
What kind of exercise are you able to do so far at home? Are you up walking?
I think my recumbent bike will be a real blessing as I get started.
I am also filled with many sketches yet to be done of things I have picked up while visiting people in our community.
I have a carving in mind for the people who have been here for me from the community and for the Dr.s and nurses who have taken me this far. Of course it will be heart themed with angels(male and female) supporting a very large heart with their arms wrapped around the heart as they wing their way forward as each of us will do, with angels gently letting go when we are strong enough to continue on to the destination chosen for us! I will send a print out to anyone here on site that may want it(I will post a photo of the carving that has to be done first so you know what it will look like and then from then on it will be my thing to mail my heart all over the world in thanks and in support. I am very much looking forward to this work.
I also have to carve an Indian Elephant for my cardiologist and my best friend Maggie up in Eureka, ca.
I also have prints I have to make for some neighbors of their dogs(German Shepard, beautiful specimen's of Man and Woman's best friends! That is long overdue as I had to stop as symptoms progressed. AND OF COURSE! A carving of "M"'s beautiful cottage and garden in Cornwall. Probably be the first one I sketch as I am intrigued by the garden and stonework! Just can't wait to get into recovery mode where I can roll up to my art table in my comfy office chair and sketch in the brilliant sunlight of my kitchen where the prisms of my old chandelier will bounce off and help the play of light as I sketch.
Wow, went off to my "Happy Place" there didn't I, chuckle.
Anyway Lynn. if you want to get thru to me I am at(tsyvertsen1@sbcglobal.net)
I have to get off my you know what and get to pedaling now while it is early and hasn't reached the 107 we are supposed to get to again today! You

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Popeye!
Steven- Words can't express the way your post tonight has touched my heart.
Anyone who reads it will agree that your words to me are really directed to our community as a whole. I am touched, moved and so happy to be a part of this place I call our "Heartland".
We are able to open up our hearts to one another and say anything we think or feel to help each other get through the worst and most difficult chapters of our lives. This place has the ability to bring us together using this ability to search out and comfort one another, educate each other, bring a sense of family to those of us in need of one when the heart needs this support to survive.
I am very proud of you that you have decided to listen to what your body is telling you-that it is time to move forward in order to live your life. I think it wise of you to move forward even though you are still very scared and make no mistake that being scared is what we all have going on when we head towards surgery. If my words and those of this community get you to your surgery then the community continues to be a successful venture that is, I feel what Adam Pick's had in mind when he provided it to all of us.
I am pleased and blessed to be a part of such a group and proud of you also as I have read your own words doing the same thing to others out here in the community. We are one-
Heart Sisters and Heart Brothers of this World and we will be a part of each others lives for years to come.
Remember that tonight as you rest your head on your pillow my friend. We will be there for you as you enter your surgery and afterwards with the same love and support. Rest easy, and sweetest of dreams! Love, Terrie

Hi Terrie I can empathise with some of the things you mention in your journals. I have worked all my life only took short time off when i had my son but always worked when having the girls. I too thought retirement i could do all those things i worked towards. we worked hard and saved everything was focussed to a long and comfortable retirement. home in australia and home in cornwall and we would travel between the two. well life dosnt work that way i guess you cant control everything. so diagnosis last year of BAV completely threw me. my husband had heart attack at 55 but he got his health back to normal and is still playing soccer (albeit talking more than kicking the ball LOL) but i was the healthy one. I think the point is that perhaps people like us are being forced to take a look at what is really important and to stop and smell the roses. i always want to research down to the smallest detail so in some way i can control things when they do wrong but i have found I have to stop and let nature take its course and let other people help me. its a very hard thing to do I have always been so independant and mentally very strong. Even the postponment of my surgery has forced me to once again look at the medical team who will look after me and give myself over to them and let them do their job. I read you like to do wood carving however have been too sick to continue at the moment. perhaps this could be a new crossroad and you could find another outlet for your artistic gift. love to you terrie and not long now cant wait to be able to share our recovery.

Terrie Syvertsen Hi "M" Better pour yourself a "Spot" of tea as I have because I am on a roll this morning! Enjoyed hearing that you are into jigsaws(Gary and I are too) only he is a brat towards the end where you are excited about finding the last piece and usually does something silly like (hide it to make me think a piece is missing)not nice!.
Well of course you do patchwork! Living in such a beautiful little cottage in England well I say of course you do!
That is something both my aunts and most of the friends I have had do. My cousin Mike is living in Florida now where they have a "Patchwork" Circle of friends with Her Church that get together and work on them together. Then they give them away to people who have gone thru fires(as they are volunteers with the fire stations in their town as part of the group of first responders) It is a great comfort gift, don't you think.
I come from a Family of Women who painted mostly in oils and acrylics. What do you prefer? Water/acrylic/oil or do you dabble in all? I have only done water color as I never really had extra time for painting or the space to paint.
Long ago at the age of 25 I spent my birthday backpacking up in Alaska with my best friend Vicki. Taking time off work as a typesetter I returned to work having learned on vacation to carve out linoleum blocks. Since I used a letterpress printing machine at work I was able to use it to hand ink and roll over my carved blocks and got "hooked" I also being a typesetter was able to make stationary out of the smaller block prints and cut them to sizes where I could set the type for Birthday, Anniversary(you get the picture! greeting cards as a hobby. I have over 45 blocks that I have printed since then. Just back in 2006 I began to carve 9 x 12 carvings as I had more time to sketch and carve them out. That is my "Bliss". So this is what I look forward to. more sketching when I get home and the carving which gives me hours of pleasure. And the day where it is done and I can go ink it up with my brayer and roll off that very first print(which requires pulling back and forth on a roller whose pressure is about 10lbs worth of effort so it will have to wait a bit but I will get back to it. I would like to send you one of my fairy prints as it has a "cottage" type feel to it and is one of my favorites.
By the way, isn't it wonderful to know you will be back home able to start new projects and your and your husband will have great new adventures. Things will be so much clearer and possible with your health improved!
As for being forced to take a look at what is important! Amen Sister! It somehow makes life feel that more special when able to reset the thought patterns around the real importance of every day/every moment that we are given on this planet. Makes you realize just how Unique and Special each of us is! At least I think so.
Well my dear, I am going to get up from the computer and let Hunter the spaniel outside as he is standing on 3 legs and huffing, chuckle. I will be in touch later(oh lucky you!) Take care my Sister. I am proud of how you are handling this all and know it is because of the strength and independent way you have been!

Before I forget, the choice of a Bovine tissue valve was made at my surgeon consult whereby we went over the types of valves and which he felt I would benefit from the most. I had already decided not to go with mechanical as at my age and the fact I didn't want to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life it just seemed to fit.

Terrie just read today journal note and found that what you are experiencing sound very familar to me. Like you I have had a circle of close friends that I considered family, but over the years they have moved away or have died or have just become unavailable. Now I find that without my blood family around I am alone, except for my cat Frances who is very independant. So at night I am blessed to sleep most of the night. While in the hospital I used to have a reoccurrant dream that I was always under a house coming up to the basement and that is now I would enter the house. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but not frightening. Now with the sound of the TV going very softly in the background I can fall asleep fairly quickly without the dreams. You have been a comforting person and I want to comfort you in turn. Waiting can be a tortuous process, but it will be worth it once it is over. Terrie Syvertsen Susan. Thank you and I am indeed comforted by your words and expressions not just in today's post but for all the posts that you have made in our community.
I apologize if my journal entry came off in a way that is difficult to understand. I think what I was saying in my round about way was that when I first started my heart journey years ago there were people I assumed would be around to talk to that I had a history with. In making our moves into this new (older) home Gary and I got a chance to start over. Something a lot of people in this economy have had to do. We were fortunate to make big changes in our lifestyle and focus on what was really important. In doing this it helped us get to HERE. I know it is possible to find new friends and reach out to those in the community who have like interests and hobbies to get back to the things that used to help complete my life. I had to steer away from my carving and printing do to the health restrictions and strength needed to participate as usual. I have not been out biking nor kayaking on weekends during these glorious summer days and I guess it was that like most of us I have worked all my life(ran away at age 16 and have worked steadily up until past few years) Retirement was supposed to be a bit different and I just didn't figure I would be facing such choices in health care or lifestyle at this age. So I am not complaining but looking forward to knowing that things will be better after my heart if "fixed" and I can start back doing the things that make for a healthy relationship here at home and look elsewhere for new friends. In truth because of my symptoms it has been hard to expect anyone to really want to step into my life at the moment as it is frightening to most that there are so many restrictions to how much I can participate. Again, this will change.
You are right. Waiting can be tortuous but I am really looking forward to getting this done and will be patient.
I actually use this site to keep me in balance. Waiting to read about how people are doing, how surgeries went, if there is anything I can say or do to make it easier on others as they do daily for me.
So thank you and please know how much It means to hear your words of comfort as well. See, I have met another new friend and will be here for you as well. Keep in touch and let us know how you do next week.

I have every intention of taking any and all information that I feel will help others on their way to surgery so that it may help keep the fear at bay as much as possible. Also build confidence!
I am going to take the lesson I learned from Eleanor and Gigi and move forward with the expectations that all will go well. Attitude, attitude, attitude plays such a big part in helping retain

Gigi should by out of surgery by now and I am so hoping we hear from someone soon as to how she is doing.
Thanks for the sweet comments about missing me as I will miss posting and the responses from our community too. But mine is still a ways off and I am hoping that quite a few of us are in and out before me so I can also follow their examples! Time passes quickly.
I am glad if anything I say or share helps you as your posts are also helping myself and others too! So keep on posting as you too are making other people more at ease and felt cared for which is something we all need and appreciate! Later my heart sister!

I am encouraged by the human "spirit" and touched especially by the people whose lives have become intertwined like a beautiful and complex woven tapestry with one another.
The expressions of Love, Faith, Fear, Compassion, Comfort, Relief and most of all Hope are I will carry with me whatever happens and wherever I go!
I love you and appreciate your being an addition to my life that I will treasure, new Friend and Sister.

Yes Terrie, you are so correct. This moment is all we really have. It's not always easy to think in those terms but that is the reality. I'm a planner and a worrier but I try every day to remind myself that we control very little of our own destiny. If any at all.
Of course, that doesn't mean we don't need to be cautious and vigilant to some degree, but panic and worry really has no real productive purpose. It's hard though. Fear is a powerful thing and sometimes it's hard to ignore.
Congrats on getting the dental stuff out of the way. One less thing on the "to do" list.
Have a nice day. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Thank you for your post and I was smiling this morning that you were up and celebrating hearing about Eleanor!
It is such good news, eh! Always good to see something so positive happening in our community isn't it?
I am feeling better about having surgery now more than ever, how about you?
Hunter had a bath yesterday and is my best "bud". I am so thankful to start each day with him and his love.
What would we do without our pets?!
I had a nice Sunday and was happy to hear from you, thank you again.
I think I have been more frightened about the dental work than I have been about OHS! Now that is nuts!
Things are healing well, yeah!
Have a great day today Heart Sister!
I am waiting for the sun to rise to go out and trim some of the beautiful roses that have been patiently waiting for me to join them in the garden!

Dearest Terrie,
Yes, I received an apology today. Good going sis, and looking forward to a potentially less hectic day tomorrow. Am concerned about Eleanor and may put out an alert. In the meantime, as you do, I will be praying for all who are in need that they receive the comfort and peace they need to be able to use their energy for positive preparation or healing, whatever the case may be.
Here is the quote I sent in partial response today:
"Real friends are those who, when you've made a fool of yourself, don't feel that you've done a permanent job." -- Anonymous.
Don't we all need grace given to us as we live the best we can but will undoubtedly make errors or unintentionally hurt others?
Tired and eating a light dinner after curfew. Worked hard and think progress was made, plus some more packing has been accomplished. Hooray!

Thinking about Eleanor as well but know that her daughter is with her and that when the time is right we will all hear from her. As we have been told repeatedly, everyone's surgery is unique and I am sure we will hear something when they can get to it!
Best we can do is continue with prayers and positive thoughts that all is going as it should at this time.
Hope you got a good nights sleep last night and glad you are making progress in efforts to get ready for your date!
You take care and know I love you back. Terrie

Thank your for all of the loving and very honest help you have given to me. You are very precious to me! I had quite a blow when two very letters with unwanted news arrived to be opened this morning. Thank you so for your kind words to me. I felt the same way when reading your post exchanges with Eleanor. You lifted her spirits. Every one who reaches out to another on this site has done a great service to one another.
I am hoping to continue posting back and forth with all of you as you have become a Family to me at this point in time and I enjoy the interaction because if fulfills a void I didn't know was there when I felt so alone and frightened in the beginning......
I hope you feel calm as I said to you, as you are on your way to receive the "gift" of a new valve that will take you to a healthier future God willing! I am going to try to focus when I wake up on what Is.....and take it one moment/hour/day at a time knowing our Heart Sisters and Heart Brothers who have gone before have already told us that the first few days will be rocky but the recovery from then on is worth it!

Terrie Syvertsen Geri- Good to hear back from you. I can understand with surgery so close why you may be feeling anxious and sad as I believe that is just par for the course with all of us out here waiting.
But as to "why am I going thru with this? I suppose you are the only one who can really answer for yourself but I would like to suggest that you are going through this in the off chance that LIFE WILL CONTINUE AND BE BETTER IN THE DAYS, WEEKS AND MONTHS TO COME. That you are special to this Universe, unique and have a purpose for "Being" a part of it.
This Aortic Stenosis is a tricky thing.
Day by day sneaking up on us and robbing us of our energy and desire to hope for a life without it ruling our every breathing moment.
I for one have let it lead me up and down mental paths I never thought I could go.
One of the reasons I am now looking forward to surgery is that I truly believe to give up on the hope of getting better and returning to a normal life is to "squash my own Dreams". My plan is to go from here and find a renewed purpose, reason for living knowing that I found enough Faith and Hope within my own beautiful Spirit to fight for that right to be here and I hope you will be doing the same. That we all will do the same.
We all need to push pass the Fear and Anxiety and really believe that all will go well for ourselves and each other. That is what this site has been handed us to do(thank you Adam).
To tell each other our stories and build confidence in our choices in moving forward together for just the chance to continue and leave a piece of us and who we are on this Earth.
Please remember your place here is important to your Family, friends, heart brothers and sisters and it will be worth "going thru this".
Sending my Love and Prayers and thanks for all your posts which have helped and for which I express my gratitudeTerrie

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Lynn. Thanks for the post in my guest book. I wrote to you awhile back as Ginger had mentioned you in a conversation so I looked you up then.
I didn't see the webinar today as I had a dental visit(tooth removed) and wasn't in the mood to do anything but sit with a scoop of ice-cream and pout like the brat that I can be, chuckle.
So, I am glad you recommend it and will view at next opportunity.
I admire Adam Pick and all that he has set in motion for all of us in "His" our heart community.
Also, I knew Ginger was thinking about you as she is getting closer to her surgery date. I am proud of her and how she has handled her journey with such optimism and Faith. She has been a big help as others by just being honest and caring with her heart sisters and brothers on this site.
I appreciate your part as well in stepping up to share your experiences and hope that things go well for you too.
Keep in touch and thanks for the encouragement and I hope to help you along those lines as well. You are actually one of the closest people in our community in California to me and that doesn't make me feel so isolated

good morning Terri
I so enjoy reading your postings and the kindly messages you radiate to all of us.
my surgery was rescheduled for next Monday 21st of July from today, learned about the change last Friday, oh well guess if I waited several years to consent to it whats five days!
when I first heard the term aortic stenosis from my physician I didn't pronounce it properly and thought of it as "aerobic " which sounded like erotic!
I heard this morning on Fox news that Henry Kissinger in his eighties had aortic valve replacement at NY Presbyterian hospital in NYC
I began looking into buying a power recliner but various problems prevented the final sale, I may continue searching, its been so dreadfully hot and humid here in nation's capital one's energy is zapped.
Thanks for the energetic boost, and God's Blessings to all of us

Terrie Syvertsen Geri- First of all you cracked me up with your comment on the physicians discussion of either erotic" Stenosis or "aerobic" stenosis either one I feel likely would kill us both at this point, Ha Ha.
I had similar thoughts when I first met my Cardiologist as I was so tense I wasn't hearing half of what he said. I hadn't heard anything about valve problems ever.....
Like a lot of other people on our site all I heard of was people who had had heart bypass, attacks and the like.
Never realized that day in his office that a whole new, large world of valve issues plagued so many of us. And what an education we are getting, eh?
So glad we are fortunate to live in a time when these surgeries are available to us. Just wish that there wasn't so much time that has to be spent waiting from diagnosis to the actual surgeries. I find that the wait has to be the most difficult for most of us.
You are right about your rescheduled date as five days is nothing compared to all the days of waiting and experiencing the changes in symptoms which only makes things more uncomfortable as the wait continues.
I put you on my Prayer and Spirit calendar for the 21st. now. I am hoping there are no other changes for you and that you continue to have the strength and great energy you present in your posts that uplift others as well as lift myself.
By the way, thank you for the compliment about my posts as I have found posting to others and receiving them back have been key in my keeping focused on the big prize(That this is over with and my heart is in better shape!) Our hearts are in great shape!
It has been in the 100's here where I live in California and yesterday was humid in the high 90's. It doesn't help the situation now does it?!
As to the power chair, I hope you find one and if not have a comfortable chair you can get in and out of.
I also need to by a wedge pillow as I understand that will come in handy in many ways for comfort.
Do you have people/Family on hand to help when you return? I have no Family or friends nearby(we moved from up North a good distance from most who would have been here) so I will be counting on my husband Gary and new neighbors and new neighbor/friends. for the first couple of weeks home and hope I will be able to maneuver by myself soon(maybe dreaming? It seems like many people are facing their surgeries with little help and I pray for us all that we get what we need when we need it most.
I hadn't heard about Kissinger and his replacement. I felt awkward being 65 and realize that this is still considered young by my cardiologist for this procedure.
Well Geri, it has been nice having a guestbook chat this morning and it is time for me to let "Hunter" out to chase his Kat the neighborhood cat!
Will be thinking of you. Terrie

Especially when they took the tooth below it out a week and a half ago. Duh? So yes, I went the way of extraction on all three potential root canal for less chance of infection. And that is that!! Glad the Dental Guru understands my choice and decision. I feel empowered(chuckle).

The root canals should last about +/- 10 years. Crowns b/w 10-15 years. I am not really fond of root canals anymore as they harbor bacteria and are dead tissue in your mouth. It looks like you went the extraction route, good. It will heal and that's that. No risk by having a root canal.

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Mike. First off we compared renting versus purchase and in our area it would cost approximately $350.00 a month to rent. This doesn't mean if you go online or make some phone calls you can't find one cheaper. Buying a chair can run around 499.00 up to over 2,000. depending on the brand and model type.
You need to look up in phone book or go online to Furniture stores that sell Power Lift chairs. Or Google Power Lift Chairs in(your city or area). You will find many sites showing chairs, prices and that will give you specs but I would suggest you go to a place nearest you and try them out to get the correct size you will need as your weight capacity and height make a difference.
There are chairs that go into 2, 3 positions and an infinity chair that you can lay way back in.
We paid more to buy one as we had found one on sale and been saving for it for my surgery. You might also try Medical supply companies nearest you who may both rent and have chairs to sell. Also be careful to select one that has a fabric or material you will be comfortable sitting/sleeping in(like some are leather like and some fabrics are smooth versus scratchy. Also if you are thinking of buying make sure it has a good motor. II realize this is a costly choice you may be making but from what I have heard especially on this site it is worth it for your comfort and healing ability. You would also be able to probably sell it when you are done as there are many people looking for these types of chairs. So good luck to you in your search and best wishes on your coming surgery.
I hope this helped.

Just wanted to mention thanks for the note today and thought you might enjoy hearing my dental saga of late!
Surgery is on Aug. 20th and went to dentist to get work done and ended up being told I needed 2 root canals and one build up and crown meaning cutting of gums(I know eew!) so made appt. but checked with surgeon first due to not wanting to set myself up for "Infection "prior to pre-surgery appt. on Aug. 15. Drama (to me)unfolded) and surgeon/dentist confirm that too much work to do and needed to find quicker way. Well, two teeth extractions later and one more scheduled for this Thursday has me set up to be healed by my dates!!
Thank God they are all in the back and one is on top of an already empty spot(one taken out 1-1/2 week ago). or I would be the sweet older lady grinning toothlessly walking up and down the hospital wards in her beautiful new lavender bathrobe, chuckle????!!!!

Hi, Terrie. Like you, I checked out powered chairs (was going to say electric chairs, but that really sounded wrong!). First on line then in stores. I thought I would rent, for I really don't need another recliner, but I wanted one that I could sleep in, so I rented the infinity position chair, which actually will put your head lower than you feet, if anyone wants to be in the "Lift off, Houston" position for blastoff. Don't plan on needing that one myself. It was delivered yesterday, right on time, and I tried it out a bit, as did all of my family, and I sat it in a bit, trying out positions, before bed. It is plush and I think I can sleep in it, should I need to. I had them deliver it upstairs, near my bed, so I can move between one and the other. If I decide it will be better downstairs, my brother and nephew will help with that, although it is heavy.
I wish you many happy relaxing sessions in your chair, we can compare notes! I can't have mine in the midst of family activity, as I have a 9lb dog and a 13 lb cat, both great jumpers, who love to jump on my chest. Can't have that when I come home, so I will have to migrate away from their flight patterns.
Keep well.

Terrie Syvertsen Hi Eleanor! Glad you got your chair right on time and have it moved in a good location! You are right in that you don't want cat or dog pouncing up on you and they will be forgiving! Far better than being caught up in the mechanism!!
I didn't have room for another recliner either but as my husband snores I now have an option to go in the other room and sleep comfortably if need be. (I can also move him and one of the other recliners out into the garage area, ha ha) My recliner is a rocker type that when you lean forward you have to put both hands on the arms and push up to get out of it which I will not be able to do at first I am sure(I practiced thinking of how it would effect the sternum action!
It was rather fun trying out the different positions of the newer power chairs as the old ones were much "clunkier" whereas the new are wall huggers and built to work soundlessly(almost).
We have a Springer Spaniel who is 14 yrs. old and a little slow on the "getty-up
who would not be able to move fast enough to avoid getting squished so Hunter will be kept out of the main area of "recovery"with baby gates until I feel confident he can be safe(and me).
Hunter ways 80lbs. so jumping or pouncing is not an issue when I get home but he loves to sleep at my feet which is a "can do"!
Great idea to have yours close to both bed and area where if It needs to be moved It can be!
You made me laugh with the "flight pattern" notation as the neighborhood cat "Kat" that had been abandoned and chose us as her new Family has just gotten to the point where she trusts us enough to sneak inside and the first and only place she goes to is "you guessed it" my motherly chest!
So she is going to have to back off a bit for awhile but she is so happy to lay by Hunter and push him around I am sure she will be ok.
I wish you also many happy relaxing sessions of healing in your new chair!
Well Lady, your time up is coming and I am really excited for you that the waiting time will be a thing of the past!

Sure hope you get a go for the 14th. and don't have to wait. I know how frustrated that would be!
I know what you mean about having symptoms and having to wait as the same thing has happened with my "dental" issues at the last minute.
I am trying to get them completed in time for my pre-op on Aug. 15th. as plans for "work" on them had to change due to the time needed to complete the procedures and heal in time for surgery on Aug. 20th. Looks like it will work out baring any infections. but frustrated it didn't get done sooner so this wouldn't have been and issue in the first place.
There is a good chance your UTI will be ok in time for you to proceed and I pray for your sake this is the case.
So keep us posted and drink lots of water with your meds. You stay cool as well. I am going to be indoors today getting some things organized for the "homecoming". You take care and say hello to Erica as well.

Hey Terrie. We are holding our own right now. Have some tooth pain yesterday and today and it is really tiring. Went to see the dentist and of course we couldn't find anything. I suspect my bite is high on the left side which means it makes contact on my left side before the right side. The bite was lowered to accomodate three implants 7 years ago. I think he did this to give the implants an upper hand because it was a big surgery. Now, I am paying the price for an unbalanced bite. At night I sometimes grind my teeth and grinding makes worse the high bite on the left side which is where all the pain is. So, hopefully this will subside in a day or two (long time).
Right now, I think I'd better get a gaurd built to clamp on my lower teeth to even out the bite at night time. It's called a bruxing guard and many people wear them to alleviate tooth grinding while sleeping.
Things are slow in the heart valve area. Will be going to the city to get a Carotid ultrasound completed on the carotid artery for the 18th and then a date will be set in Kelowna for my surgery. Indications are it will probably be around the end of August.
I've backed away from gym time and only golf with a cart now. I keep my firewood splitting and lawn cutting to short shifts.
So.... we're making progress to a new reality.
Take care.

It puts an added stress on the heart and not real good..
The firewood splitting makes me a bit nervous for you as well(oh no, another antsy woman)but the motions of firewood splitting would seem to me a little much on the muscles/heart and you should be careful because your heart is already having to deal with its own issues and you don't want to cause it too much stress, OK?!!!!
I know it is hard not to do what you are used to doing but it is time to treat your heart with love and respect so that when your surgery is over it will be in great shape to get you back to all those things you love to do.
To over due it could mean causing damage and I am sure you have been told this(as was I).
So end of lecture as I realize that you and most men are used to pushing through things to get things done but I don't want to see you push too far. I am sure Linda is telling you the same thing so listen to us, chuckle. Same thing goes for the golfing. Take care of that heart as there will be time to catch up on all the golfing, etc. later!
Kelowna sounds like a beautiful place.
What does it mean?
I wish you positive results on all of your tests(which will tell you also just how much or too little you should be doing) as they pinpoint the shape of your wonderful heart.
When you get a date do keep us posted. I am set for Aug. 20th. so far.
You two take care and know you have our thoughts and prayers as you go!
Love and prayers,

Terrie,
Wonderful post! Lacie will be my Hunter, as she has been through my recovery from the awful head injury relapse in late 2010 & early 2011, then through each of the four surgeries that follow.
I grew up with dogs and always loved having them, but my husband did not grow up in a pet owning household. As a result he does not bond very well.
And we started with a cat because when I was still putting him through med school our schedules were crazy and we didn't have to worry about letting an animal in and out.
We did have a beautiful Great Pyrenees who was born on the farm where I had my head injury. She was a purebred and we could never have afforded her, but one summer we managed the farm for three weeks while all three farm humans were out of town. (Feeding sheep requires muscles to lift and dump 40 pound bags into the feeder. While I got the food in, my two children got the hose going and filled the water tub.) After Duke and Duchess had their babies (NINE) we were allowed to choose one, except for the one going to the farm master and the one being sold. We took the runt of the little, and she still grew to 120 pounds.
But she was great with the kids. Cassie would place herself between anyone new who came into the house and the kids, because she was a natural guard dog. It anyone had tried to do something to the kids, she would keep pushing them away and, if necessary, fend them off.
Her father, Duke, was raised to guard the sheep, and some nights out there a lot of noise, animal noises, would start up. Without question, the next morning there would be a dead coyote on the property. Duke was protecting his sheep. He was in a pen one night and made a racket, then dug out under the fence. In the morning Duke was out with the sheep. One of them had been injured. And yes, there was a dead coyote.
Big dogs like that do not live long, but we had her for eight years and she was a well-loved dog - part of the family. When she died, we buried her out in the woods on the farm where she was born. It just seemed right...
They say cats are so independent, and that is somewhat true of Lacie, but in these past years she is with me where ever I may be. Right now I have my legs out in front of me and she is nestled between them. She is a good reminder not to cross my ankles, because if I do, she will paw at them, reminding me to get her space open! And does she purr...
Love you Sis, be good to you, please don't overdo it. We don't want your heart paying for it. Pace and patience, Pace yourself, don't plan too much, and be kind to YOU!

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Ginger!
Just got out of the shower and ready for the chair delivery. Found more things to do today one of them"get ready for the 100 degrees! Not a fan of the high temperatures but did manage yesterday to fill one big black bag of weeds from around the rose bushes.
Plant to get one more this morning while it is not too hot so I am off to do that in a few minutes. The last thing I want to do is watch the roses get attacked by the weeds before I head for surgery next month.
You set a pretty picture of you and Lacie that I imagine is quite homey.
I love cats but have an allergy to their hair and not to dogs. Also have always loved birds(although don't like seeing them caged) had parrots up until we moved from our last place. Gave one back to her original owner as she had had a stroke and needed the love of her old friend! Her name is Hawkeye.
I adopted a rather abused Military Macaw (Peppitto) and we had each other for 16 years before a small neighborhood child ran up on our window where he was out playing on top of his cage and scared him into an
"accident". He just missed the move to this house and would have loved it here as there are many different bird families frequently in the yard. He especially loved mocking birds and mimicked them. The only reason I took Peppitto in was that his previous owner's husband was putting him in a sock and throwing him around for fun with his friends and he ended up being brought into a pet store a friend of mine owned and put up for sale. Upon entering her shop for a "spot of tea" one afternoon, Peppitto crawled down from his cage top and onto my shoulder and out the door in my truck with his cage and toys. I was smitten by him and loved by him until his demise which was unfortunate.
He used to sit on my chest while reading and take his rather large wing span and cover his head and my face like we were playing peek-a-boo and fall asleep. He was such a character and I miss him but value the time we had and was happy to give him 16 years of great love and companionship. He got along famously with our two springer spaniels. He would throw a ball off his playpen and Hunter would pick it up and bring it back to him. Boy, guess you might say our pets are a big part of most of our families and make it richer for having them in our lives.
My Dad taught me to love birds. He trained and flew pigeons in the Army affixing messages to them. Carried his love back home to the States where we children spent hours with him caring and flying with bird clubs up on the hillsides just outside of the city when we were young.
I also used to raise love-birds, canaries, ring necked parakeets.
Well enough of my sitting on my duff and sipping tea. The garden awaits and it is only 70 degrees. Take care and give Lacie and Autumn and yourself a hug. Terrie

My name is Mia,
I am pretty new to the heart family. I have been communicating with Ginger. What a blessing she has been to me. This heart community(family) is amazing and am so thankful to have found this site. I decided I would write you as we have lots in common. We love ice cream, coffee, and will be having heart valve surgery and have Ginger as our heart sister..
My mitral valve will either be repaired or replaced. I was diagnosed with this at age 40. I knew at some point surgery would be necessary. My surgery is scheduled for July 29th. Then Ginger the 31st.
I live in Michigan, and am thankful that we have access to communicate with the heart community through technology and because Adam started this amazing site.
Keep smiling and sharing all your knowledge and experiences as you travel on this journey.
Would love to hear from you.
Sending bunches of hugs your way. Sleep well relax when you can and take care of yourself.

Hello Terrie,
I have just joined the heart family a few weeks ago. I am so blessed to have found this amazing group of heart brothers and sisters.
I have communicated with Ginger! She is amazing and has really helped me during this journey. My surgery is scheduled for July 29th. (Two days before Ginger.) I am doing the count up with Ginger. I am on day 6 today. By day 42 both Ginger and I should be back home.
I will be having a mitral valve (repair) or mitral valve replacement. I also have chosen the bovine tissue valve. I really researched the valves and decided I really do not want to be on blood thinners the rest of my life (If this is possible to avoid.)
Enjoy this beautiful day! Looking forward to hearing from you. I am hear if you need any words of encouragement.
Thinking of you and will remember you in my daily prayers.
Heart hugs and love from

Terrie Syvertsen Hello Mia and welcome to the heart community.
I see you are communicating with "Ginger" who is a fountain of information and inspiration to many here on this site.
Seems there are many of us entering into countdowns or ups to our surgery date and I hope that your road is met with encouragement and a newer healthier heart leads your way for many years to come.
I know this site continues to shape my feelings on how to continue on a daily basis being positive and looking forward to the days ahead and when this is behind us all.
I would say to keep asking questions and understand as I am certain you are already "getting" that you are one of many people and not alone in going through this life experience.
Take care and know you are (like all in our community and beyond)in my prayers as well.

Terrie Syvertsen Ginger-My goal was to be entertaining while looking and feeling like a chipmunk on one of the nosiest days of the year that I wanted to be part of my journal! As for the drugs. That is a serious matter to be honest. I really do avoid taking anything but my "have to" meds and vitamins/supplements as I am one of those who has no stomach for them.
Surgery will prove to be interesting in that I am hoping to have a high pain tolerance working for me.
Turned out to be a nice 4th of July even though we made it late to the "chair" furniture place and will have to go today instead. It is going to be hot again today(104)on Monday!!!!
Will be in touch but glad I made you laugh. Hope your Anniversary was great Ginger! Love you- Heart Sis.

Hi, Terrie and Happy 4th to you too. I am glad you have time to get all the dental work behind you, hopefully that will make your surgery and recovery that much easier. We had a huge wind/rain storm yesterday, which blew a large limb off my elderly neighbors' tree into my backyard. We will tackle it tomorrow, but I was out this morning picking up leaves and branches, and recalled your "peach picking". Can't do it so much anymore, and I am SO used to doing everything physical.
Question for you: where are you having your surgery, and what type/brand of valve has your surgeon recommended?
Keep cool, keep well. Let me know about your recliner, we are renting one to see if I like it. I asked for the infinity electric recliner, which goes really flat, 180 degrees down, although I don't expect to need that. Expensive to rent!

Terrie Syvertsen Hello again Eleanor! & Erica!
Yes, my dental saga will reach its conclusion just in time to make it safe for the old valve to be replaced and a good environment to accept the new valve and keep it from being infected by any dental problems in it's dear future.
My surgeon suggested the Bovine Tissue valve as that is what they appear to be using mostly. I opted out of the mechanical valve partly due to the fact I do not want to deal with the blood thinners for the rest of my life and also would find the awareness of a ticking with the mechanical to be something I would obsessively focus on.
One of my greatest joys now since retirement has been my carving which means hours of being hunched over the art table in a position that might make me even more aware of my heartbeat and would be an unwanted distraction. (Not that these aren't things that people obviously get used to and work with as they receive their mechanical valves.)
Also I am older and actually believe there will come a time if I need surgery that something new and exciting will be available at the time.
My surgeon Dr. Pompili will be performing my Valve surgery at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Clinic at their Cardiovascular Center in Santa Clara, California. Gary and I live 1 and1'2 hours away.
Another thing to note is that my surgeon said that rarely the area accepting the tissue valve does not fit properly at time of surgery so the alternative is to go with the mechanical valve. He reassured me that it is rare and just needed to go on record at our consult.
As someone who lives with type 2 diabetes and only recently switched over to insulin injections I also didn't want to deal with measuring blood thinners and staying on top of insulin and blood sugar levels at the same time as I see the tissue valve a better choice for me in that area as well.
I am taking a quick shower now that my teeth seem to have quieted down so that the recliner hunt is on!
I will keep my eyes open for your infinity chair today and send back any information I can pick up this after noon to you as well.
Your infinity chair sounds amazing. We are looking to buy instead of renting as we have seen the rental is almost as much as paying for over half of the chair. I also have a converted garage area in the house we moved into last year that was re-done for the former owner for her "day care center which has both laminate flooring and carpet area. This is my art/craft and printing press(antique letterpress as I am an
old typesetter) using 3/4 of the area to play in. Gary has a spot for his tools and an outdoor shed. There is a laundry corner. So We will use the chair we buy and keep it out in a corner for use of anyone we find out is going through similar medical issues as a way of helping out someone so that they don't have to rent or buy one.
At the same time we may also just re-sell it as I am hoping not to have to use it for too long a period but know in the time I would have rented it I could have bought it as Medicare will cover part of the cost is understand and will know more about today. I will keep you posted but will be happy to get one more thing crossed off my heart-list of things to do!
Say Hello to your daughter and have a happy and safe 4th.
Love to you both and I will leave you with the picture in your minds of 2 happy chair hunters probably getting kicked out of the furniture store for having too much fun trying out the chairs! Terrie

Yes, I think you picked up on where I was going in my rather lengthy post, chuckle!
And Lady Resilient is our Middle Name!!!!
We are all looking at our surgeries with very positive energy these days as we all know isn't how we started out.
It is the nature of the game to go from where we were to where we are headed and might I say I am darn proud of the lot of us. Heart-brothers and Heart-Sisters out there in whatever stage they are experiencing.
Please see the "Bowls of ice cream" at the end of the tunnel.
Don't mind me. Had 2 teeth extracted and taking Tylenol instead of using pain med which has left me a little "goofy" this morning. That and I can't have any warm things to drink until late today because of the work they did.(Everything went well and good!)
Seriously we are a great bunch of people out here helping each other by listening and giving advice, sharing our adventures. Blessed is what we are.
And as for visiting Cornwall one day, I am putting it on my "Dreams to do List" believe me. I equally have dreamed of going to the land of my roots. I want to take photos and bring back many pretty cottage scenes to do carvings of.
Lately I have been playing one of many of my Celtic CD's with a planned vacation in mind as I feel a real earthly connection to the beautiful music. I even have a flute(that will be great for my lungs)that I bought years ago and never got into.
So don't be surprised Heart' Sis If this
crazy American is outside your cottage door camera hanging 'round her neck
playing a Celtic tune outside your door!
Ha that is a picture worth a million words now isn't it.
We are headed in the right directions and all of this we are experiencing will be worth it in the end. I Swear!
Have to run. By the way if you can will you post a photo of the front of your cottage so I can do a sketch. I am already doing one of your garden as I am going to do small carvings for stationary while I am re-cooping that might be ready by the Holidays.
Have a great evening Friend.

Hi, Terrie. You sound a lot like me, a "do it yourself" person. All things being equal, or at least like they were in the past, you would probably be up in the tree gathering peaches and sawing branches! It is hard to ask for, even to accept help. And it must have made you feel "guilty" for taking your neighbor's time. The heat may have dimmed her enthusiasm, or the task itself may have cut close to home, to the task she was supposed to have been doing, of casting off broken or spoiled things with the hope of preserving the good part of the tree (or of the room/daughter). We never know what goes on in one's mind, and can only support the part we see.
Stay cool, it is also hot in northern Virginia now too, but lower 90s not the heat you're having.

Terrie Syvertsen Eleanor-Yes I am a do it yourself person. My cardiologist was surprised I was still hand painting the new house on a ladder during the summer last year but after the move it was such a joy to be out in the sunshine, meeting all the new neighbors walking to and from the park across the street while painting over this cute house that had been sold with a primer of white paint just itching to be painted ASAP. While Gary was traveling as part of his job I didn't want him feeling like coming home and painting all weekend as he needed to get to know the house and the neighbors with the weekends being a time to kick back. Also he was able to meet friends here in town to get back into golfing nearby so it was fun for us both to leave the outdoor work to me as much as possible.
I also took 27 plants from our old home in Redding, Ca. into this place in the back of our moving truck and transplanted them all myself. One at a time which took time due to the fact I couldn't lift (used truck lift and hand furniture dolly) and one by one they got put into the ground. All but one plant made it as a Mytee tree bit the dust due to bad windy days after transplant that did damage of course after weeks of being back in the ground. I have a very small back yard that only had this one peach tree I write about. Silly to speak of a tree being friendly to most but to me it and it's bare branches during the winter months we viewed the house prior to buying, was a feeling like open arms saying "Welcome Home" and the first harvest of peaches was a true delight. This is why the health of the tree is so important to me and I am trying to care for it well. I will send a photo to you whenever I figure out to get them up on this site! I think you will find it fun.
I agree with you that asking or accepting help is a toughie when we are so used to just doing things on our own.
Well time to go and I hope you have a good day there in N. Virginia! Take care Heart-Sister. Love, Terrie

And I appreciate the info on Hunter. He gets prayers, too. Lacie is going in for her "grooming" tomorrow, which will mainly be a shave to get off the hair that has gotten matted as I have slowed down. Jim is taking her in and I an hoping she will come back with some dignity -- hair on her head and legs and some on her tail. She would have balance problems like I do if they removed all the hair from her tail. I am hopeful I get the message through that they are to leave at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair on her entire body. I prefer to think of it as clip rather than shave.

I really feel fine about it this morning. It was when they were trying to do too much, too fast knowing they had a deadline to complete their work due to surgery date that I was skittish.
Today half of it will be done and on Sat. at 8:00a.m the other half will complete the work which should give me plenty of healing time before surgery.
I imagine I will go through the 4th of July looking like a "Chipmunk" and giving Gary something to laugh at as I will be rather quiet as well, Ha Ha.
Now I am confused who "Lacie is! Dog or Cat? Yes we love our animals.
Now with the "image" of Her haircut
I am not sure "what" she is(could end up looking like an Iguana!!!!!
Now remember "Anniversary Woman"
that you have to have someone at the house up until 1:p.m keeping an eye on the front porch! Chuckle. Love keeping you in suspense!
Thanks for all the support and understanding. Hunter will be 14 on the 4th. of July and by then should be feeling much better with all the meds the vet has him on.
He lives to chase the KAT another day.
This will be fun on the 4th. As I refuse to leave our adopted neighborhood cat outside with all the fireworks(bombs) in our neighborhood) so we will be buying a litter box and bringing her "shelter box" we made for her on the back porch into the garage(which is converted into a room)where we will see if she wants to hide out there or stay outside(her choice) I think Kat will want to visit with Hunter but I am keeping them separate due to his being sick. (She will be happy for any attention! She is a very mellow cat and we enjoy her and Hunter and their antics.

Terrie,
Had so much fun reading your response to M below that I almost forgot to say Happy Tooth Day. I know you are departing with a couple tomorrow and, with inflation as it is, am wondering how much the Tooth Fairie will leave you. I highly recommend you put a note under your top pillow asking that your payment come in metal rather than paper form. If she leaves enough gold you could use it to cap tooth #3!
Seriously, you will be in my prayers for comfort and peace and easy breathing through the whole dental thing. You were going to have a signal for the dentist in case you needed some air, etc. I was thinking a bicycle horn might be good. But you don't want one that would through the dentist to the roof (no, not roof of your mouth, actual roof) because startling the dentist that much while in your mouth with pointed objects could be a painful experience for you. Maybe a small dainty bell, but get one made of metal so if the dentist does not respond fast enough you can use it to "tap" on their skull!!!!
Or you could take one of your carving tools, which already feels comfortable in your hand and tap/ring/bang it against some of the dental equipment. Step two would still allow you to jab said dentist with your little carving weapon, er, I mean tool!
Should you decide not to take some kind of a music/sound player to distract and relax you, I highly recommend ear plugs, found at your local Walgreens. Then at least you won't be listening to what they are doing!
So what time is the appointment Pacific Daylight Time? Cause I want to be sure to pray you right through it.
Am send tons of love and gentle hugs for you and not-so-gentle shin kicks for any dentist daring to cause you any kind of pain. That is not a requirement of dental procedures anymore, and if your dentist is working in their "area of expertise", painless dentistry should be accomplished!
Love you Heart-Sister sister! And know M will be praying for you too if she is awake!
You just might want to warn the dentist before starting that Dr. French is keeping a close eye on what is happening, and has no qualms about retribution should something happen to her precious sister!

Terrie Syvertsen Ginger! How to respond!
I will be in said chair at 2:00p.m for the grand "tooth pull" not to be confused with tractor pull! It will be fine. Should be fast and out the door!
It is the day and a half later for the third tooth procedure that I worry about as it is going to be tedious work and I don't like being back and breathing backwards in the chair. I will have faith it will also go quicklyl and not get infected!!!! Pray for that thank you very much. Bad timing for dental work but would be worse if it got bad after valve replacement. So thanks for the ggod thoughts once again. I think my 6'4"
husband waiting out in the waiting room will give the dentist food for thought as he has big brown heavy eyebrows (sort of like the cookie monsters) and I am sure he won't want to deal with him, chuckle.

I was thinking about you yesterday!
I pictured your beautiful garden photo while I picked up peaches that had fallen to the ground before it got too hot. I am finding bending over and standing up for too long a period(short) I feel like I have run a race!
Good that you are monitoring your swelling and sorry to hear you have ANY! The only thing on me skinny are my wrists and just above my ankles but I do notice even there I am swelling just a bit so-so far so good.
Good thoughts on the Walkman as I think I still have my "disc "player out in the garage area by my printing press that I used when cutting and folding my "prints" and doing my carvings. Gary is going to move the art table(which was my great grandmother's buffet that is over 100 years old so long and skinny. It has oak carvings and looks so "homey" in our older house. It will be my spot to sit and look out on the park across the street which is quite small but lively! I will be able to read, sketch, carve, people watch and "zone out" in this spot as well as wave at an occasional neighbor as they pass by with their kids or dogs. It is an area right off the hallway to the front door where I will have an opportunity to get in and out easily with "Hunter" for walks as I get back into shape! Looking forward to those days where walking isn't a "Chore"!
And swimming and kayaking after that!
Yeah! Things to look FORWARD to, right?
What are you looking Forward to the most at "Getting back to?" You know I am expecting to get an "over the pond" course on the right way to do free weights when we can "lift"! I would like to be able to walk with lite weights one day. Right now I miss the biking around the neighborhood getting my daily dose of "what's up" with my neighbors and their families/friends.
I think when I am having no choice but to lie still those are the things I will have running through my mind!
Of course I am going to look forward to hearing about how you, Ginger, Eleanor, and others just about to head for surgery are doing.
It has been wonderful getting to know new people(although sad that any of us/them are on this sight to begin with) but has kept me from getting down and losing focus on the "prize" a better, healthier HEART! YEAH for our HEARTS!
And yes, I have read the comments some say about how much some of us
(blah, blah, blah, but I don't worry about that as I think everyone on this site has their own very Unique story, Their own ways of Coping. I have found new purpose(especially since I am not able to live the "normal" life I would be at the moment, in communicating with people who are part of a new Heart Family and like yourself have touched my HEART. So as a personal note out there I am happy to give support/get support from you all. It is what will make all of this DOABLE!
I don't know who will be posting in your journal when you are in the Hospital but I will have Gary being the "keeper"
of mine so that I can keep up with you and Ginger since you are headed for surgery almost together.
By the way, Gary and I will be retired and planning a trip "somewhere" in the future. We have favorite places(Alaska) that I have been to twice and fell in love with so I think we have decided England/Ireland to be the "dream" getaway. As I told you before my "people" originally come from Ireland and Gary is of Norwegian
roots tied to Scotland as well.
I guess it is a trip to "over the pond" we will be saving for and I would like to be able to maybe meet you one day to give you a personal big Hug and have a walk on one of the many cottage lines roads we see on travel shows! My oldest and dearest friend Vicki and I always promised to make it to England with our husbands so that is a goal for us. Her husband is Dutch and works on large ships & loves travelling too.
Like-wise you have a personal invitation if you ever make it to the states(California) as it would be nice to take you to see the Coast/or where ever. I am already planning to get Ginger here for a walk in my park! We have a lot of healing and saving to do, chuckle. Boy I love talking about the Future instead of worrying about things!
I am sitting at the computer with "Hunter" the spaniel at my feet and it is only 4:10 in the morning here in California. The cat has been at our back patio whining for the dog to come out. Darndest thing. Cat showed up right after we moved in to our house and a few of the neighbors and I decided to give it shelter 'make sure it was seen by a vet as it grew used to our area. Kat(we named her)is wonderful with Hunter who is 14 yrs. old on July 4th. She also catches the gophers in the front and back yard as they arrive so we have little problem with them as she sends the ones that survive packing across the street to the park!
How is the weather going to be in the time ahead for your surgery there in Cornwall for your re-coup time?
Is it normally cooler or will you be coming home at hot time of the season? We usually have pretty bad heat from June thru Sept. But with the weather patterns we all have changing so quickly and the drought we are in I guess we really don't know. I guess I am glad to be going in while the weather should be good for taking the walks outdoors, etc.
How is your Husband doing with the garden/Rabbits? Have you been juggling?
You mentioned a friend who had surgery in the UK. were they able to give you any helpful insights into what lies ahead?! Glad that you are hearing from someone close to home. I would find comfort in knowing that.
I have been finding more time to meditate but not as often as I once did which has become a new goal. I also hear that Tai Chi (not sure if I spelled that correctly) is excellent to learn and with the park across the street I have already began a search for neighbors who might want to learn as well so that we can practice out there together.
I bought a CD a year ago and never got into it and I think even now it might bring too much cardio just to keep my balance!
I have been listening to a lot of music lately as I putter around the house these days. I prefer Andrea Bocelli. and Josh Groban, Alison Krauss and anything that is Celtic(inspirational, classical calm) Anything with a fast beat spells trouble as I just can't help but want to dance and my heart won't take it at this point.
Have you or do you write journal/poetry?
I found myself getting back into reading some of my old books of poetry that was like meditating for me.
Think that is going to be a new source of inspiration to keep with. I have to have things to take the place of the long hours in the garden and my God how I miss getting my hands dirty! Silly?
I am going to have two teeth pulled tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Pray for me that I don't do something rude to the dentist!
chuckle..........
I will spend the 4th of July looking like a chipmunk no doubt but as least the work will be done and healed before surgery.
Well coffee is long gone so I am headed to let Hunter out and begin the day. Thank you for your positive thoughts and letting me respond with chapters of the day! Sorry for the lengthy post this morning but it would have been a rather lonely start to the day without it. You take care and know that we are going to make it through this and it won't be long before this is all behind us and another Unique chapter in our lives, one of many! Love to you my Hear-Sister and to all of the Heart Sisters and Brothers out there Good Day, Great nights and Quick Healing! Terrie

Terrie,
Was aware Anthony had named his "MZ". People name all sorts of other things. But Pink Z would also make a great name for a fun and fizzy alcohol beverage, don't you think!?!
Spent hours tonight setting up meds for the next week and ordering what is OTC. As I go through them there is one for thyroid and one for the moderate gastritis diagnosed years ago, one is for heart, and ALL OF THE REST ARE BRAIN. Man, what will it be like if I have to add heart things? Hope not much. I think my organizer is larger than any found in stores!!!
The day has been better, there is much to do and I am 45 minutes to curfew. Not sure who will get upper hand, but I keep thinking this is Sunday when it is only Saturday, so maybe in some way I am actually gaining 24 unanticipated hours. Love it!
Love you more! Time to talk...

Terrie,
Naming one's zipper.... Now that is a though that had never crossed my mind. Hmmm, wonder why? Autumn had a small plush square of fabric that is pink on one side and zebra stripes on the other, with a round stuffed head coming out of the center. When she goes into her crib it is tucked under her arm and she snuggles in, Elizabeth and I decided last week that it needed a name, so it is now "Pink Z". May I will have to have a Pink Z of my own. I am a survivor, but the problem is I am a survivor of too many things to count, and the list continues to grow!
It is that famous prayer I have heard before, "GIVE ME A BREAK!" But I suppose the response would come thundering down, "FROM WHAT???"
I know I am blessed in spite of all of this and need to keep that firmly in mind.
My Twinnie, Patty, sent me a writing today from Ann Voskamp.. It says:
PEACE
is a Person
not a place
"May the Lord of Peace Himself
GIVE YOU HIS PEACE
at all times & in every situation."
2 Thess 3:16
from AnnVoskamp.com
WOW! Love it!
The lead in she wrote says, "Hey Soul? I know it hasn't been easy going & you're just desperate for some peace. The thing is, Soul: Peace isn't a place you have to find, make, get to today.
"Peace is a Person"'.
And later "No one can steal Peace from you. And nothing can steal you from Him."
Amen. Let us rest and meditate on these thoughts and words.
All my love sis,

As to naming the "zipper" that was not my idea but something I read in one of Anthony's posts that He wrote to someone. I believe He named it MZ.. I thought it quite a novel idea! Pink Z sounds like a Rap Group! Terrie
Hope today is a better day than you had yesterday! Love ya back SIS!

BTY your own sweet self!
Don't bother me while I am on to more important things like "What will I name my ZIPPER speaking of which have you heard from MZ? Hope Anthony is doing well since arriving home!
Let this be a note to everyone out here in heartland how much humor can help us along the way(even when it hurts to laugh)!
I realize I am going to have to try and get on the recumbent bike and do a little something to make my legs stronger for all the up and downs and walking I plan to do as told by my Team!
Oh yeah. I think maybe Anthony's "Chopper" can be hijacked to make a trip to the UK with us and a few gallons of ice cream to meet up with "M" and maybe Julia!
Have a good one Ginger!

Call the HUMANE SOCIETY!
ANIMAL ABUSE!
EMERGENCY!
Ah laughter is so good for the soul.
BTW, you might mention when asking about best ways to move, etc. that you are going for the long look and will have a full zipper. You may get better feedback that way.
Love and hugs sis,
And what a delightful Village it is!
