So happy you are doing so well. Peter said you looked great and that you should be up and about pretty soon. That's great news, especially since you have a great neice waiting for you. Looking forward to seeing you soon..
We are so happy that all went well with your surgery and that you are recovering nicely! We get daily updates from your wonderful sister....you are so lucky to have such a supportive family and great friends!
It is great to hear that everything went well and I love how your son calls you Superman...I can feel the love.
It's so great they have a website like this because I do believe love and support from family and friends is the best healer, along with a humor and in your case a Yankee Game. lol.
Best, Joanne Koegl
I am so happy to hear you are coming along just fine. But tell me, was the surgeon a doctor-doctor or a doctor-dentist? Laaaaaady!!!
I recently read an article regarding new research into the choice of the old fashioned splitting of the sternum and the minimally invasive procedure which you had. It stated that the "decison on the incision" is based on the size of a man's endowment. This helps to explain why you had the small three inch incison and why I had the nine inch incision. But don't let that get you down...you'll be up, but not that up, in no time. Keep improving and don't forget to cough...believe me when I tell you that as much as that may hurt, it beats sneezing.
Keep repairing yourself.

Hi Steve! I called the hospital tonight and asked your nurse to tell you I called. Glad the surgery went smoothly, but how could it not, you're a smooth kind of guy! I'll keep checking the journal. This is such a wonderful idea.
Steve"O"!! What a way to begin the postseason huh? There's no way your Yankees can't win it(Again)!! I don't have to tell you to get well soon. Cause I know you will. It's just another vacation. Nyukk, Nyukks, And Sueytanlies!!
Glad to hear you came through with flying colors. The good news is that everything went well. The bad news is that you slept so long you misssed the World Series. The Yankees lost four in a row by an average of 15 runs per game and MLB decided to sell the Yankees to the Cleveland Indians and move to Pocatella, Idaho. A-Rod decided to quit and he got a job with City of Angels as Bob Redlin's chaueffer.
Now, you rest and take it easy. Don't pull any wires or tubes out, that's how they get TV reception at the hospital. Remember, breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth...AKA, smell the cake, blow out the candles.
Feel good...you will soon.

Saw your sister's message and looks like you pulled through the surgery like the trooper you are.
I'm glad to see that's behind you and now it's onward and upward.
Keep that positive attitude and you will be up and around in no time.
See you soon...Love, Gail & Howard
Steve, I am glad to hear that you made it through the surgery. I was very shocked to read this email but extremely happy about the outcome. I will see you soon. You are and will always be in our prayers. Take care.
Love you Heart and family
This is Steve's sister, Gail. I was trying to post an update on my dear brother but couldn't get in to log on...so here is the scoop. He came through the surgery in great shape. Doc said he was in great need of the valve replacement so we are all glad he is through with that. He went into the surgery with a very positive attitude and the love and support of so many. He will get through his recovery with that same love and support. Thank you all, on his behalf, for being there for him, if not in person, then in spirit.
Couldn't wait to call Mitch and get an update about how you're doing. He said all went well (we knew it would....). We won't bother you until you come home and are ready for visitors. But know we're thinking of you and wishing you a super speedy recovery!
Take good care of yourself so you can heal quickly!
Hey Steve. I just spoke with Lynda and she told me your surgery went well. I know we haven't talked in a while but I love you and my prayer is that you have a speedy healthy recovery. Love u much. Please get well soon and take it easy. Let Kyle do all the work lol.
LA - Your surgery is certainly over by now it is Iowa time 7:54 PM. I have thought about you all day and the days leading up to this significant event. You are a special, very incredible man - when the docs found your heart of gold, I know that stumped them :-)Stay strong you are a treasure to so many!

I know you mentioned in your email that you'd be out of it most of the day after the surgery. I've been looking around on the site for updates on your condition, but haven't found anything. I wanted to know when we're allowed to visit. I'll keep checking in.
It's a question of having lived so much that you want to live a bit more. You shall indeed return to endless love, brother poets, women of sweetness. A son with inexhaustible eyes. A gathering, in half sleep.
The clouds will be new today, as will your rivers find new flow and rage. Your letters will not be the same.
Your love for you, is measureless.
I've been thinking about you so much today, and I'm so glad I got to talk to you last night before your surgery.
We are sending good vibes your way, and I know you are a trooper and will be that much stronger. Thank GOD you caught it in time!
You are in our hearts and we will see you soon...
Love to you, Gail & Howard
