Hi Richard,
Good luck on the upcoming surgery. Just remember to keep yourself as busy as possible prior to your surgery to keep your mind off what coming up. Post-op, don't rush yourself and do only what you can. I was lucky in that I had enough sick time from work to cover 12 weeks out. My surgeon wanted me out that long (I had to have no restrictions when I returned to work). I am glad that I had that much sick time. You will be sore initially but that goes away. If I can recover while chasing my kids around the house, you should be fine.

Richard & Susan,
Thanks for your posting on my guestbook and for your prayers. I too am praying for you guys! Being a preacher, sure I'll put in a good word for you, but I don't think I have any more pull than you do. We're both in God's hands, and that's the best place to be.
Pajamas...what in the world are those? I too had to go buy some. What's this world coming to?
Well, Richard, we're in this together. I am signed up for your updates and look forward to hearing how you're doing once I resurface. Here we go buddy!

Hey Rich, I forgot to ask Susie Q how much weight you lost for the surgery. Maybe Susie will feel sorry for you after the surgery and let you have some good ole biscuits and gravy, corn bread, etc.... You'll be up and grazing before you know it.
Moo you later,
Deb's

Gee Richard, I hate to think of you feeling at all out of sorts, but I am very grateful that you are getting this taken care of, and by one of the the best medical facilities in New England! I know you will do well! You are dear to all of us. When you're feeling better, I'll come right up to see you - you give the word and I'll be there with a big balloon that says "'HAT A BOY RICHARD" and a big happy hug from me! You and Susan will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love, Holly

Hi Richard,
"It's Norah next door". No I don't want to go for a walk!!
Great to chat with you this evening. You were so up-beat and fun. In fact I called to wish you luck, in the hope that my call would make you smile. But you made me smile, and the girls laugh! Now at this point I am sure Mr. M. was wondering 'who the heck is she talking too? I thought she was calling Richard, so why all the laughing??" By the way after I explained all your jokes Mr.M. said "Great, tell Richard, we will see him in Boston. But when we go out with Sue and Rich for dinner I am having beef, he can order the fish!"
So in short we are with you and Sue in spirt and wish you all the best. Just keep dreaming your in the Rits. Keep us posted and Sue call me. Please.
Good luck and here's to a fun night on the town when your both up to it.
Lots of Love,
Mike, Norah Sarah and Hannah.

Hi Richard
I had a mitral valve repair Oct 1/09 and want you to know it really isn't all that bad, especially as compared to the alternative. The pain is short lived. I would recommend (if you are a music lover) taking an Ipod or something along for company. It can help calm the nerves and while away the hours. Good luck on your surgery. Will look forward to future postings as to your recovery. Cheryl, Ontario

Hi Richard, next week this time you should be home and recovering. Think you'll appreciate those pajamas, especially as you're walking the halls of the hospital. I have to wait till March for my surgery and I'm not the world's most patient person. God is teaching me a lesson. Please have your wife keep us up to date on your recovery. Prayers go out to you.
