Of course you can rely on me to let Stephen know everything as it happens! The email associated with this journal page is our joint email at home, he just never checks it but I always do! On your surgery day I will keep this page open all day & tell Stephen to keep his phone handy every min so I can update him. Thanks Patty & I feel truly blessed to be so welcomed into such a great family! We'll be by tomorrow evening for a visit! Can't wait to see you!

In response to your question about sleeping. Man, that was a BIG one for me. I REALLY worried about that before surgery. I did look into buying/renting a recliner. I also took many poses in our recliners that we already have in our home. Then I bought a pillow-thingy thinking I would need that. Then I tried out all combinations of pillows........

I found out I really didn't need anything other than pillows......I sleep a bit raised up but NOT like I thought I was going to need. I am sleeping on my sides now too, more the right than the left because I can feel my heart beat more when I am on my left side. I am able to change positions without issues either.

Another question I had before surgery was about a bra..... I just went to the fabric store the day before surgery and bought an extender. I have been able to wear my regular bra with that without any problems.

Hi Patty,

I too am a AVR patient, 5 weeks out! My successful surgery was on January 13th. You ask for advice and all I can say is RELAX!! Trust your surgeon, they do amazing work. I was surprised at the lack of pain after the surgery. Listen to your body and be patient, recovery will take place at it owns pace. Having people around to support you after surgery is important. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask here. No question is silly....... Everyone wants your surgery to be great for you.
