Beachin-Mama....It doesn't surprise me a bit that you have so many friends and family that are praying and supporting you. You have touched thousands with your indomitable spirit and ability to get through challenges with humor. And remember....there is no one else that can be the Animal Rummy Queen and dance without abandon. See you Friday with a healthy new heart!! Boo_mama
With your attitude you are destined to do well. You'll be head of the thorasic dept. in no time. I will certainly pray for your full and quick recovery after surgery Thursday as well as for all who attend to you. Listen to healing music, smile (laughing may hurt), and imagine yourself running on the beach.
Of course you can rely on me to let Stephen know everything as it happens! The email associated with this journal page is our joint email at home, he just never checks it but I always do! On your surgery day I will keep this page open all day & tell Stephen to keep his phone handy every min so I can update him. Thanks Patty & I feel truly blessed to be so welcomed into such a great family! We'll be by tomorrow evening for a visit! Can't wait to see you!
In response to your question about sleeping. Man, that was a BIG one for me. I REALLY worried about that before surgery. I did look into buying/renting a recliner. I also took many poses in our recliners that we already have in our home. Then I bought a pillow-thingy thinking I would need that. Then I tried out all combinations of pillows........
I found out I really didn't need anything other than pillows......I sleep a bit raised up but NOT like I thought I was going to need. I am sleeping on my sides now too, more the right than the left because I can feel my heart beat more when I am on my left side. I am able to change positions without issues either.
Another question I had before surgery was about a bra..... I just went to the fabric store the day before surgery and bought an extender. I have been able to wear my regular bra with that without any problems.
Any other questions??
Glad I can be of help....peace to you these next few days!
Hi Patty, This is you favorite tie guy (Ross) from the best ward ever because of you!!! I love to attend gospel doctrine when your teaching, because you put alot of time, and effort into each lesson, and it show's. You also make it fun too. Hope all is well, and remember don't worry be happy. Everything will go well. Take care. With lot's of love the Ray Family.
I can't imagine how you've been able to get so much done with part of your heart not working right. Just think of how much more you'll be able to do when all the pieces are doing their share of the work.
Thank you for putting up this journal so we can keep an eye on you and your progress. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Don't forget, we have a beach date in 6 weeks!
All the Best,
Leah & Jeffery
P.S. I love -PopPad! I have to figure out what to call Jeff's iPad. When we bought ours it was supposed to be for us to share for our business, but I am an iPad widow.
Your courage is shining through....and when you do have doubts, you have your Savior, family, and friends who love you and support you. I hope you are able to feel the love and have peace during the next week and throughout your recovery.
WOW, so wonderful to have so much support from those who love you so much! 215 emails could take a whole day to read--a whole day of distraction! Distraction helps. Soon it WILL be Friday--hooray! Hang in there!
It was so good to have lunch with you today and to share a laugh, or two or three as well as a meal. Your positive attitude is helping all of us remain calm. And. . .if you're a good girl I'll buy you a pair of those animal print pj's we saw today. They are sure to make you feel better in no time!
Glad you signed up for this Patty. Now we can stay up to date for sure! We wish you the absolute best on your day! I can only image the fear of going into this, but you are such an amazing & strong woman and have so many wonderful people in this world who love you so much that there's no way this could not have anything but a positive outcome! You will be in our thoughts, hearts, & prayers every day! We love you!!

I too am a AVR patient, 5 weeks out! My successful surgery was on January 13th. You ask for advice and all I can say is RELAX!! Trust your surgeon, they do amazing work. I was surprised at the lack of pain after the surgery. Listen to your body and be patient, recovery will take place at it owns pace. Having people around to support you after surgery is important. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask here. No question is silly....... Everyone wants your surgery to be great for you.
