Dear Adam,
I am another one of the recent heart valve surgery patients and I am schocked and dismayed reading about what Lori, you, and your entire family is going through. I had written Lori a week ago telling her not to be concerned about her scar . . . that seems so irrelevant now. Reading her story, it is clear she is a very special woman and that the two of you have a wonderful family. I was happy to read that you are a doctor . . . that is a huge advantage in this situation.
You have a strong support network of family and friends . . . do not hesitate to lean on them and let them help you take care of your daughters.
Lori is a strong woman and she will get through this with your help. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Good Morning Adam and Lori
I used to work for 2 nephrologists and quite frequently they would have to put patients on temporary dialysis while they recovered from their surgeries. Kidneys need a rest sometimes. Apparently from what I read from some of the guestbook messages, she is a big fighter. She is in my prayers, several times a day. Thank you for taking the time to update us. Prayers from FL.

Adam, I thought you should know that a whole legion of people across the country are praying for Lori, you and your family. Lori has impacted the lives of so many families with her work in the Down syndrome community and we are all thinking about her (and you) throughout each day. Thank you for continuing to update this journal - we wait for each entry with anticipation and hope. I'm not sure I have known someone with more grit or determination than your wife. I can't help but believe that she will pull through this crisis by applying the same spirit she puts towards everything else she tackles. Keep the faith. Love, Dana Halle and the other LP partners.

Have faith. Love, Kim Coufal Evans

Thinking about you and the girls and Lori here in KC. Praying non-stop and asking a friend to add Lori's name to the LDS Temple Prayer Roll this week. I am also going to donate blood this week in her honor as I am sure she has used lots of donated blood by now!
If I can help by donating a roundtrip Southwest Airlines ticket so a family member/friend can come and help out during the recovery please let me know!
Keep the faith and make sure you take good care of yourself Adam during this difficult time. Lori is so lucky to have you and she needs you to stay strong!

I just read your entire journal. . .I'm so glad the Rise gals forwarded it along. Consider your family at the top of our family's prayer list each morning and evening. We will be praying for health and safety for Lori, for strength for Adam, and love for the girls at this difficult time. Adam, I may have a line on the perfect nanny for you guys. SHe has lived in with my next door neighbors' 3 kids under 7 (about 3 blocks from your house) for the past 4 years. They have loved her but are moving on to someone more part-time who can drive (Hilda cannot) to help shuttle the older kids around to their games, etc. Hilda is looking for a live in situation full-time and they are looking to transition in the next 2 weeks so great timing. She speaks limited english but it great with the kids and manages to communicate well. My neighbor's name is Ellen Kester and her mobile is 659-8516. Hilda is still living with them for the time being. Ellen knows about Lori's medical situation and is happy to facilitate a good bit of this transition for you if you want to call and discuss. Or i can do that for you if you call me and let me know what/when you need specifically. Happy to help as much as needed. Hope this helps. my cell is 731-6615 and email is meroneys@aetna.com. Feel free to call if I can help with this or anything else. Still working the prayer chain....

Hi Adam
I read your entry yesterday about seeing Lori's heart.... what a beautiful way to look at it... it also came to me this morning that while her heart is just sleeping, her spirit may be on a short and much needed visit to her mother to help provide her with even more strength to get through this and carry on with life healthier and stronger - because she will recover! Mark will be there soon. love Barbie xo

Dear Lori and Adam
I pray complete healing occur so that Lori can read for herself all the messages of love and prayer that have been sent your way. As Mark said, all of us who have been through our valve surgeries realize the complications that could result as a consequence of our surgeries, but we still choose to have the surgery because after we are healed we will be healthier and stronger. Lori, this will be so for you too.Just know there are complete strangers praying for healing.

Adam and Lori,
As I read your updates I keep you, your family and your friends close in my prayers. Each one of us on HVJ hopes and prays our surgeries will be successful and uneventful. In most cases they are, but Lori's has been much more challenging than what many of us and our families had to deal with.
We all wish you the strength and courage you need over the next few days as Lori fights through her recovery. Do know that there are countless people out here who only know Lori through her journal; who have been down part of this path she is on and are praying as hard as our hearts will allow us that she makes progress over the next few days.
We keep Lori and your family in our hearts and prayers,
Mark
