Hi Adam, thank you so much for continuing to update everyone even in the midst of everything. I have been reading all the updates since Lori went into surgery on Friday and I am so sorry for all that you and your family are having to go through. Your family is one of the nicest and most genuine families I've ever met and I am praying everyday that Lori recovers and is able to return home in much better health to all of you. I really wish I could be there to help with the girls, but when I'm back in town next weekend please know that I will be available whenever you need. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
God Bless, Theresa

Adam,
I just cannot imagine what you and your family are going through. It seems so senseless.I will be honest & tell you I don't get on here very often anymore due to the fact that I'm either sick and it also started to depress me to see how well(even though I was happy for them)they were doing and I was getting worse. I had the robotic surgery on June 3rd and my life changed for the worse rather than the better. You can read my journal if you want, I have had many complications. But the major one was a heart attack they think happened during or soon after surgery. But it was not found until my husband took me to er in July. I had a stent put in.Went back to er last week and had to have another angioplasty. They also cut my phrenic nerve and paralyzed my right diaphram.
I think God led my husband to your Lori's journal. I have reached a stage where I am so angry. But what has happened to me is nothing compared to your family.I am so very sorry and sad.And I do know being the caregiver is a very hard job and you feel so helpless. My husband is in your position.
I am a 40 yr old mother of 3.I will be praying for Lori and your family. I am sorry for rambling. I will be watching for news.
Sincerely,
Kimberly S.

Dear Jesus,
Please lift Lori up, hold her in your arms and heal her now. She is needed here to love and guide her children. You gave her a very special gift in all her children. You entrusted her with their lives. We are entrusting you now with hers. Give her the strength and will to recover. For it is with you that all things are possible. In your name we all pray.

I am so glad that you set up this journal for all us people who love and care for you and your family. I just got home from austin.. While there of course I went to see you and adam. Can't wait for you to get better so we can start planning another family reunion. I love you and wish you a speedy recovery. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.... Love your cousin, marie

Adam,
On the Mary Poppins front, I have the name of what I'm told is the most widely used agency in the Austin area. It's Mom's Best Friend. You may have already lined someone up to help, but I thought it best to send this to you and Lori for future reference if needed.
We continue to keep Lori, you and the girls in our prayers.

I added your name to the prayer roll at the LDS temple. It will remain on the roll and be lifted up in prayer several times a day for the next two weeks.
Adam-

It is now 4:00 on Tuesday, August 17, the website has not totally been corrected but part of it is working. The posted a message saying that they were upgrading the system due to "rapid growth". I think your family and friends blew up their server. You are now at Seton and many of us are greatful for this move. You have an awesome team of doctors waiting on your arrival. I believe the "red carpet" was rolled out for you.
Love you tons! Cousin Cyndi

Lori....your journal has been down for several hours now. I managed to get an email through to them to see if they could help get it back online. It was there entire site. You will notice a gap in the entries. I just wanted to let you know that this is the reason. I love you and will be back on Wednesday evening. Cousin Cyndi

I couldn't help but smile to myself this morning while thinking of Lori because I can already see her at the forefront of educating/advocating for people with heart disease. It is that same tenacity and spirit that I have no doubt will pull her through this. Lori, I hope once you are better and are able to read this guestbook you will see by the hundreds of comments what an inspiring and amazing person you are.

Lori, Adam, I am followinga all your postings and wish you all the best. Lori is a real fighter and with all the good wishes coming her way she will pull through. Adam, you are also a hero. I am glad that that your Dad and Mark are going down to Austin, it is hard to watch it from here, feeling so helpless.
My love to the children.

Adam and Lori--thank you so much for all of the updates on Lori. From all I have read she is quite the fighter and has 4 very special people to fight for! Kate prays for her and the entire family--including the dogs!--each night and I believe that prayers from the mouth of children go directly to God's ears...We will be offering up a rosary for her healing today. Please let me know if there is anything we can do...

Lori, you're such an amazing woman. I was constantly in awe of your energy, your drive and your many, many talents. Your dedication to DSACT and all of our children was nothing less than inspiring, driven, I know, by your own deep passion and love for your sweet daughter, Hannah. During this time, I see everyone you've touched sending strength and love back to you, encircling you and your family in a web of courage and support. Adam, you're an incredible husband and father. I hope you, also feel the support to buoy you through this fight. It is a fight and you're not alone in waging the battle.
With love and blessings,
Lisa, Steven, Sydney (DS), and Haley

Hello to all of the Bartas and their caring families. We are indeed sorry that Lori had the need of a mitral valve repair. We do wish Lori a complete recovery. We are impressed with your great support system of family and friends.
We are pleased that the ARD went well! However, I know you all were prepared. Remember when you go into those meetings that you as parents have the most knowledge about you child's need. You are her voice!

Adam-
Thanks for being so diligent with your updates! I am sure it must be a double edged sword to be a physician going through this. It's easy to spot passive care and question decisions made as you know most of what these doctors know. It's also great though, as it makes you a strong advocate for Lori and that is what she needs right now.
I am so pleased to hear your dad and brother will be there with you soon. The more family surrounding you now the better.
Lori is a fighter and I can't imagine her not pulling through this given all the people praying for her across the country.
Praying, praying, praying in Kansas City.
