Hi JoAnen,
I am glad to hear Mayo is living up to the high expectations I have of them. Their efficiency and common sense continues to amaze me. I can't believe how fast their volunteer greeters can spot someone who needs assistance, and then quickly guide them on their way.
So sorry Minnesota greeted you with such a snow storm. We got about 17 inches here in Bird Island.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you as you go through this speed bump in life. It won't be long until you look back and say ,"that wasn't so bad after all".

Holy Cow! I feel like I just woke up and have a lot of catching up to do. Jeanne told us about your surgery weeks ago, but I guess the date just slipped through my mind. We do hope you're doing okay now and we know that you have the very best of care there at Mayo. We'll keep you in our prayers and will be anxiously waiting to hear the good news of a full 100% recover. Love, U. Tom & A. Karin.

So very glad the Banzhaf made it to MN and enjoyed a day of relaxing at Cabelas.
Thanks for keeping us posted and in the loop. Take care and keep you mind on those mountains your headed towards to climb, through the sweet smelling pines and the sun bouncing off the water tumbling over the rocks. Before you know it that's where you'll be. Of course you'll have to turn around and holler at Dick to see what's taking him so long, but what's a person to do???
LOVE YOU,

Hi JoAnen,
I just had aortic valve replacement seven weeks ago. Please believe me....it's not as bad as you think. You'll wake up and be very sleepy, groggy and you won't be aware of too much. Before you know it the breathing tube will be taken out..I can hardly remember it...and it was like nothing. You will be kept comfortable and will hardly notice any pain. I dreaded it too, but now I wish I didn't, because I over thought the whole thing. You'll be fine and be home before you know it. It's really not bad at all. God bless you, Marilyn Birnie
JoAnen Banzhaf  That is very comforting. I figure that I am worrying too much. I hope you keep improving.

HI JoAnen, My you are getting close to the big day. Before you leave you might want to get a little something from your doctor for anxiety. I did before I had surgery and it took the edge off being nervous. You will do just fine, you will be in a very good place. God will be there with you holding your hand thru the whole process. He is wonderful getting us all back to a normal life. I will be looking forward to hearing about your recovery and your climb down on the other side of the mountain. Gods speed to you and I will be keeping you in my prayers and thoughts and have a safe trip to the lower 48, enjoy Cabella's also. See you on the other side.

Hi JoAnen
I had my aortic valve replaced, anerism repaired and one bypass at Mayo clinic just about four years ago. I had my annual check up there this week. Be prepared for the royal red carpet treatment you will receive there. I still get emotional just driving by Mayo. Every year I stop back at Saint Mary's hospital fifth floor Mary Brei and greet the best of the best nurses that took such good care of me. I also drop off about a pound of my famous peanut brittle in thanks.
I am 61 years old and this year ran 10 races from 3.1 to 12 miles, three sprint triathlons and one marathon. I had no warning or symptoms of a bicuspid aortic valve until I passed out after a race. In my book you are going to the best place for treatment. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi JoAnen, I had my surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in April of this year. I had my Mitral Valve repaired by Dr. Burkhart and Dr. Suri. The hospital and staff were wonderful, and my experience was a good one. The process is very smooth and fast-paced, very organized. Everyone treats you like family and are so helpful. Every phone call I made was handled quickly and professionally. You will probably have to go for the consult and pre-op tests before actually scheduling the surgery, but I didn't have to wait very long at all. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!
This is the hardest part, making all the arrangements and then waiting for surgery. You sound like a strong person and will do fine. Feel free to contact me! mhpomeroy@att.net
