I'm scheduled for August 8. I went from for sure a new valve is required in my local surgical consultation, to you may be a candidate for repair on the phone in line with Cleveland Clinic. To my surgeon is confident I can keep my valve and does not expect to need to do repair. He does want me to have selected a valve just in case.

When is your surgery scheduled? So I guess they're gonna do a repair?

Hey Jeff,

I'm new to the heart-valve site, my name is Christine. As I read your journal entries, I realized that you will be at Cleveland Clinic five(5) days before me. I'm scheduled for surgery on August 8th with Dr. Marc Gillinov. I'm getting very anxious and also concentrating on preparing myself spiritually and mentally. I'm having mitrate valve repair. I know God will be with you, leading you through a safe journey! I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hi Jeff,

I am just over 6 months post-op from from AVR surgery at CCF. My doctors originally thought I had an aneurysm and I was treated as an emergency case until I had an MRA that showed there was nothing to be concerned about, at least with the aneurysm. CCF was amazing! I truly believe my recovery was accelerated because they provided such excellent care. My father had the same surgery 2 months after mine and at a different hospital. After observing his procedure and recovery I have no doubt that I made the right choice to have mine done at CCF.

Growing up, I spent many summers enjoying WI and still try to visit a few times a year.

I see your surgery is in early August and I will be traveling to CCF for my '6-month' check-up on August 13. If you are still there, I would be happy to visit and provide encouragement. Either way, I am here to answer any question you may have.

Jeff Offermann  Thanks for your comments Eric. Glad to hear you're doing well.

Hi Jeff,
Waiting is definitely the worst part. You have too much time to think about "what if's" and having doubts. I wish I hadn't waiting so long now. Recovery wasn't a breeze but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. I know it's hard but try to think positive about the outcome of the surgery and that you'll be better than ever.

Take care,

Hi Jeff,

I am a Wisconsinite alson, and I had two valves repaired at CCF 18 months ago. It is an amazing place, and you will not regret going there. I know how overwhelmed you are feeling right now, but knowing you will have the best possible care should bring you some peace and comfort. I can tell you that the waiting is truly the worst part, so hang in there and stay strong.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Godspeed and good luck!
Jeff Offermann  Thanks for posting about your experience. Waiting is tough as you say.
