Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know Julia & I are sending gobs of loving mojo your way in light of your surgery tomorrow. I'm sure everything will go without a hitch, unless you grope one of the nurses in your "sleep" as you are wont to do.
Love ya, man, and we'll stop by St. Joe's once you're ready for visitors.

I found this prayer on the internet and personalized it with your name. I thought others might want to see it.
A Prayer Before Surgery:
Dear Father, we thank You for this beautiful day and for the blessings of calling upon You for help with a prayer before surgery. We love You, Father, and we know You love Ernie. We love Ernie very much, too. We are grateful he is in our lives.
We ask You to please bless Ernie to feel Your love and our love, in comforting healing power now. We ask that You give Ernie strength to be at ease and free from worry or concerns at this time.
We thank You for the talented doctors and good medical staff that are all around us now. We ask You to bless the surgeons that will attend Ernie now; that they will be directed by You, that their skills be heightened and their hands be made steady and sure. Please bless our humble prayer before surgery to cause all to go smoothly with this surgery before and after during surgery recovery.
Bless Ernie to return to a full, active life and that he will be able to use his health to love others and You.
We thank You for all You have given us, and humbly ask blessings on all; especially Ernie. This is our prayer and we ask for these blessings to be given if it is Your will, in Jesus' name, Amen.

I won't say good luck since I'm sure your surgeon is skilled enough as not to require it. I will say have a fast recovery afterward. :-) I'll take you to Dames & Games to test out the heart when you're ready.
Gabrielle Stinson posted a note for Ernie that says:
OK dont feel that you have to reply to this message Ernie you must look after yourself and heal before your surgery. Go to bed before midnight and breathe slowly and deeply. Everything will be alright in the end and if its not alright it is not the end! Gabi

It was great to see you the other day. I have missed chatting with you and seeing your happy smile. I am glad I got to meet your mom. She is wonderful and I loved all her stories. And the girls enjoyed visiting with you and being back at Tiki Land...Aaahh, good times at your hula parties (ALOOOOHaaaa....! shimeee...shimeee...shimeee)!
You know we are all sending you positive vibes, thoughts and prayers for a safe surgery and a fast and fairly painless recovery.
I, too, am a fan of your journal. Thanks for making me laugh. I truly believe laughter is the best medicine. I admire your bravery and having the courage to be proactive in your medical situation and choices. You're very smart! You are a role model for all of us.
So Ernie, stay confident and positive, keep praying, keep writing and laughing(and making us laugh), and I look forward to seeing your smile at many more animation parties, and of course, having you over for more Indy 500 pancake breakfasts...We are going to create a special pancake just for you with all of your favorites!
Bear Hugs and Lots of Love,

Love reading your guest book, and hope all goes good and you recovery quickly. Tell mom to make sure she lets me know either through my sister or email via Sharon. How far do you live from San Diego? Take care and a speedy recovery.

Hope the cold has gone by the wayside by now. I have been reading your blog to Mom and she says you should right a book about your experience. She and I have both laughed so hard at your blog.
Too much beer, cant remember what she came up with for a name but will try to remember after I sober up LOL

Ernie: Dude, have a heart. We're all rootin' for you. In fact, I dug up a yard full of roots just yesterday.
May Hemo(globin) the Magnificent shine on you (pop reference #11293); may your valves reset themselves to optimum performance; and may you fully recover just in time for the next gala reunion party.
Brian posted a note for Ernie that says:
Well, well, well.......being your most recent BOSS to hire and lay you off B.S., I can't wait for you to be fully recovered so I can be your 1st BOSS to hire and lay you off again A.S.S. are these the initials that you are going to use....Gotta love this industry huh?
Oh the new found energy you will have with your new valve, I won't have to wake you up anymore at you desk. Thanks for adding to my baldness over the years.
Also, quit calling me over to the house to get your mother down off the roof again. If she got up there by herself, she will get down by herself when she is ready.( Sorry Mom, Ern made me say this.)
And if the Dr cancels this weeks date again, I would start to worry, it may be you...or your deodorant, or lack there of. I know it's NOT your dreamy eyes where you cast a spell across the masses of the female persuasion. It must be the Old Spice....
Can't wait to watch the Cowboys, Giants game tomorrow with you to see which Romo will show up so we can share in a good laugh.
So, candles lit, prayers a flowing, positive vibes a vibing, cows milked, fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed, bodies man-scaped...
that last one is optional.
You my FRIEND are loved by many and by me.
Your brother from another mother and father with NO blood relation that we know of,

I just found out I will be in hospital at the same time for pituitary gland surgery. Where are you having your operation? I'll be at Cedars-Sinai. I got one last trip in to Tonga Hut so I will have before and after pics. Surgery is Thursday!

Ernie. Can't stop thinking about you and sending lots of positive thoughts that you can get this done. It's a surreal feeling once its done. These journals are great in prepping you for all the good and the bad - makes a lot of this predictable. So good luck with kicking that cold and getting this taken care of!
Brenda posted a note for Ernie that says:
Thinking about you. Hope your surgery goes well next week. I'm looking forward to seeing you and giving you a long hug after the surgery. Here's a virtual hug in the meantime. HUG!

Hey Ernie, after they give you the heart valve, can we have the rest of the pig for a luau?
Sorry to hear that you're needing surgery but it sounds like you're in good hands and you'll be fine in no time. I'm sending you virtual hugs through the interweb, so get ready for a big squeeze.
Kari posted a note for Ernie that says:
You know this is happening because your heart is just too big, right?
You, my dearest ErnieGrog are going to be fine, and will come out of this strong as an ox... literally... because they use ox parts to repair your heart. No, I'm not making this s#*% up. They will make you stronger, faster... (and cue the "Six Million Dollar Man" theme song.)
Now, on to the important thing: When can you eat chocolate again?
Sending you much aloha, and remember to ask for sponge baths.
