So glad to read that all the kids made it down for the surgery. You are surrounded by family and held up in prayer by many friends!

Duane,Cindy here, was thinking and praying for you at 5:30 this morning while walking in the extremely "brisk" air. Little did I know that your day had already started. God has wonderful things in store for you. He put you here to be a gift to many and you will continue to be that. Bob and I are sending our very best thoughts to you and Peggy and your whole family. Sounds like we should send a case of "anti-itch" cream also for post op new hair growth:)

Meds are good! :) embrace them! I will be in touch, and I am not that far away. I will be back in town on Saturday night, and if Peggy is tired of sleeping on the couch in the hospital (or anyone in your family for that matter), we have places for you to crash at our house--if even for a short time to refresh. I can provide taxi services as well. You have my cell number.

We've been praying for you and will be praying tomorrow. Jack says that you'll be a picture of health and will have more energy than you've had in years. Sleep well. It might be good to take the sleeping pill. You do need to rest. I know. I'm like you. I don't take meds but they finally convinced me before a surgery I had. But do your own thing....it'll be one of the few decisions you can make in the next while. God bless you and keep you and continue to give you His Peace.

Duane and Family,
You'll be in my prayers, especially the next few days. We've been through heart surgeries in our family and all has gone well. It's amazing what medical science can do these days. My daughter works in a cardiac icu and reminds you to be nice to the nurses:) Duane, when you called about the annual reports, I didn't know what surgery you were talking about; just now caught up on emails. Again, may God be close to you all, and give you peace.

Duane,
Great news on the cath and no work needed! I am sure you are relieved it is over and think it was not that big of a deal. You soon will join me in the fraternity of bald eagles, chest tubes, cathether, etc.. I cannot tell you how to feel but know that we are praying for comfort and peace for you and Peggy! You are going to come through this with flying colors, I know it.
Try to relax tonight and that is easier said than done. Good luck tomorrow and can't wait for the updates!

Duane,
After reading your last journal, I realized what a blessing you must be to your church family. I bet you can give a mean sermon. Wow, you wrote some powerful stuff.
This journey ahead of you is just going to strengthen you in so many ways. I am sure you have forgotten more scripture then I even know. But I would love to share one of my favorite verses with you. Romans 8:28 says that God will use all things for good for people that live according to his purpose. God will use this to bless you. I am sure it is hard to imagine that now. But I can not wait to see what He will do with this.
Stay strong.

Duane,
I am reminded of this little Commitment...
"Until I'm committed there's a hesitancy, a chance to draw back. But the moment that I definitely commit myself, God moves, and a whole stream of events begin to erupt. All manner of unforseen incidence, persons, meetings, and material assistance that I would have never dreamed wouldflow my way begin to come toward me--the moment that I make a commitment."
You have proved every word of this when you commited your live to Christ, when you committed to the Ministry, and know when you commited to the proceedure. God Moves! and Blesses! and Keeps On!

Duane,
Your honesty and bravery inspire and minister to me/us. We are praying for peace that passes understanding! And, we trust Psalm 34:18, that (literally) "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted," and pray that you'll feel his nearness all the time!
Love, and please give Peggy our love, too,

Hi Duane
Just read your posting today and can't thank you enough for taking the time to share your prayers and thoughts with the rest of us. Even though my surgery is over, I still find your postings very comforting. Those who know you personally are truly blessed. Of course Peggy needs lots of support too as a spouse and love of your life. My husband and family found facing my surgery much more difficult that I did. It just really told me how much I was loved and I know that's what your family is feeling for you. You will be back stronger and healthier. Again, you and your family are in my prayers too. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I forwarded your name to our our Church here in T-Town and now you have another 500 or so putting in a good word. It's all in the numbers for a terrfic recovery. I'm not as worried about myself as I am for my wife, she seems to think its a big deal, so our loved ones need those prayers also. Remember to be nice to your nurses, they are in charge of your catheter. I already sent mine flowers and candy with a note about how I feel about it.

Duane,
Bonnie gave me a heads up about your surgery. I was surprised that you have to have surgery for your MVP (especially w/o symptoms), as I've been living w/ MVP since my teens - often w/ symptoms. haha Guess the "regurgitation" hasn't been significant enough in my case. :D
Will be thinking about you and praying for you.
Blessings, friend.

Thank you for taking the time to send me a note. Will pray for your successful surgery on the 28th. God will guide the surgeon's hands. We are both blessed with wonderful spouses and circle of family and friends. Couldn't imagine doing this alone. On reflection, we, as Christians we are never alone--right? Yesterday I received a prayer quilt from a friend(45 years). The quilt has knots in it and every knot she made was accompanied by a prayer. I (and my husband) cried when I saw it and read her message. Our 6 year old grandson was here at the time and was very concerned to see us crying. He needed to learn there are lots of kinds of tears. As for Captain Bill, he will be a day ahead of me with a less complicated surgery, but am sure we will see each other while we're there. Will let you know if he's as funny in person, am sure he is. Will wait for updates on your surgery. God be with you.

Hi Duane
What a wealth of information you are. Even though I've had my surgery, I'm still eager to learn more about the procedure and for sure will spend some time checking out the sites you mentioned. Besides, being in the recovery stage, there are still little things that happen that leave you wondering. Great top ten list, by the way!

Duane and Peggy,
Wow! I just had minor surgery to remove a cyst and was a big baby! I can't imagine this. But I thought of Psalm 57:7 in the old KJV: "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!" We will be praying for you guys.
