I realize as I write this, David is in surgery (hope it wasn't delayed). Know you will update us as to how well his surgery has been as soon as you can. Seems like there's someone in our "club" who is having their "valve job" every day. God is hearing lots of prayers. My surgery is not till next month and I'm having a 2+ month to wait. God is teaching me patience!

Lord, We ask for safe travel mercies this morning as our blessed friends and neighbors head to Plano this morning. Wrap your loving and guiding arms around them today. Watch over the doctors, nurses and all those who will be ever caring for the entire family. Allow the doctor time to eat well this morning, to mentally prepare for the surgery, give him/her the steady hand which is needed to perform. We believe that all will go smoothly and David will be on his way to a speedy recovery. We know that through this time, many hearts will be touched and blessed because of You, Lord! Thank you for all that you are and all that you are transforming all of us to be. Lord, you know all that is on the hearts of the Heathcoat family we offer them up to You, knowing you are in control of all things and all circumstance. Hi David:

Your mother has been keeping us posted on your "adventure". Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We prayed for you at our mid-week prayer service this evening.

Jay will be keeping track of your progress with great interest since he may well have to have this surgery one day because he also has an aortic valve defect inherited from the Poff side of the family.

Jay also said the Sienfeld Jr. Mint episode is a good choice and "they are very refreshing."

David, one week before my husband was very anxious and would say to anyone that would listen that he was feeling better and wasn't sure he had to have this done. He even called his cardiologist and said "Doc, I am feeling a lot better, do you really think I need to have this done." The doctor laughed! Sometimes as it actually gets closer - like the day of, you might calm down as it is just going to happen and you know it and then deal with it - it was like that for my husband - I thought he would have to be sedated before and he was OK.

I hope you didn't blame a faulty heart valve when you lost that arm wrestling match. The family pictures are great...good looking family, don't you & Marj age at all? Still look the same from 20 years ago. We'll have to keep the jokes to a minimum during recovery...may hurt to laugh (but still good medicine). Stay strong, you've got many people thinking, praying and supporting you and the family.
