I really related to your recent journal entry. Yeah, it really is a surreal haze, isn't it? And ain't it great to be on the other side of it?

I appreciate Marjorie's posting on my guestbook yesterday. Like Adam says in his book, every patient is different. My appetite never left me; well, a few of the hospital meals...

Regarding the shoulder pain, to me that's the surprising pain. Kevin Kimmel in PA also has it. And I read about it in some literature the hospital gave me. Not to be graphic, but I think it has something to do with the way the doctors separated our chests like a clamshell. Still can't believe they did that to me!!

I looked at your photos. God has blessed you with a wonderful family! I also noted you must have lived in Novi, MI at one point. I was born and raised in greater Detroit.

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep on running (walking is okay) the race marked out for us.

David: I read your journal entry this morning and this is what I learned from your
surgery.... unless we go through something like this, we don't really realize how many many people our life has impacted. When you mentioned all the friends and family who have shown you concern & care,it is amazing how your life has affected so many others.God opened the curtain and gave you this gift through the surgery. I don't mean to sound morbid, but it isn't until after we have died that this true picture is revealed.
God has extended your life here on earth, remember how your life makes a differnce and impacts many people, not just your immediate family. You are an important person who truly makes a differnce in many lives. What more to live for! Keep your courage and get better.

David & Marjorie, we live in Missouri, but were good friends of your parents(Dave). We attended church together in Grapevine before they moved to the Gainesville area. We found out about your surgery through our previous SS class. We have seen miracles in our own family this past year so we know how powerful prayer is. I found the pain medication was giving me the nausea so I asked to get switched to Tylenol Extra Strength. They'll probably start backing off on the drugs soon anyway. Just a thought. Glad things are otherwise doing better. Cheryl, Ontario
