Chris:
The shivering and cold chills are the absolute worst, aren't they? If you find in the next few days that you wake up bathed in sweat, that's quite "normal." I found that it followed the nights with the chills. I'm glad you're going to set alarms for your meds. Staying ahead of the pain takes half the meds that conquering it once it takes hold. Hang in there. It gets better every week.

Merry Christmas!! Sounds like a blessed Christmas day for the Kinneys.

May you continue to heal with each and every day that passes. May God continue to restore your strength. Tonight may you get your pain meds before your body knows their missing ... and may morning find you completely rested.

Hey Chris! I heard the surgery went well. I hope you are in good spirits. I know your chest must feel sore, but in time will heal. Life events like this are truly a barometer of how precious family and friends are in our lives! My mother, who is now 82 yrs old, has 3 artificial valves with which she has lived with for over 25 yrs. It is a testament to the quality of medicine that will sustain you for many yrs to come! Take care of yourself and if there is anything I can do for you please do not hesitate to contact me! Your Pike brother, Allen Ashlock

Emily is here, but her Chris will not be coming, and Andrew may not make it because of the snow storm in the St. Louis area! So, it will be a light group at our house. We will miss all of you. much love,

Hey Kinney Family: Glad to hear Chris continues a strong recovery. No surprise there, he's as tough and focused a person as I've met and won't disappoint his family by being out of commission at Christmas. Keep an eye on him or he'll sneak out to attend the bowl game!

Have a Merry Christmas and see you back in Knoxville soon.

Hi Chris and Donna,

I had the same experience after surgery. I went into a-fib. They eventually did do a cardioversion on me, along with a pericardial window to drain fluid off my heart (pericarditis). After that I was back in rhythm. Very common post-op. But still no fun and disappointing to not move to the step down. Just know you're normal. Very few recoveries have no bumps at all. Continued prayers.
