Great to talk with you this afternoon. Your voice sounds good and I can tell that you are "bouncing back" just fine. It will take time and you can't rush these kind of "bumps " in life. Sorry we're not going to be here when you get home, but we'll be back Labor Day weekend and your recovery will be two more weeks down the road! Take care and rest.

Eleanor posted a note for Charlie that says: With the pacer wires coming out, sounds like you are ready to be released. I hope Charlie will feel better soon. I had nausea too, and moving from Tramadol to Tylenol was a help. The visiting nurse told me that I would feel even better once I was off the Amiodorone, which was also true. Sure makes weight loss easy! Now I'm back to normal, but have to remember to take a little food with all my meds, ginger ale or Coke and crackers or bland cookies. Kind of like being back in kindergarten! Continued good healing to Charlie.

Another patient, Eleanor posted a note for Charlie that says: I hope with the chest tubes out, the pain management will be easier. For me, it was such a relief! Some of the other meds also create nausea, which keeps food and water away, so hopefully they can give him anti-nausea meds to counteract that. I was very happy to come home with only Tylenol extra strength. Now, at Day 22 post surgery, I hardly remember to take them. I wish the very best of healing to Charlie, and best wishes to you caretakers.

Sounds like your well on your way. Wishing you a quick recovery for the following days to come. Ive yet to face all this. Ive got my first meeting with my surgeon later. I'm nervous but will be ok.

Your progress sounds great. I had aorta and aorta replaced on 12/27/13. About 7 hrs in surgery in KCMO. I am 57 .
Take one step at a time. I walked inside the house (it was white winter)once a hour. Increased it every day. Then started rehab at the third or fourth week. Word for the wise - don't do stretching. Especially to do laundry or reach high stuff. It hurts. And I heard a horror story about someone today.
