Dear Carla and Randy,
What a answer to all of our prayers.
God is good. Looking forward to
seeing you in Jupiter and back
in the music ministry which you
Today was an "praise" event for me.
No more "cam-cast" only "ugly shoes"
and I can drive. The Orthopedic
surgeon indicated 70% of the bone
fusion has occurred and another
month of therphy (3X a week) I
should be able to start an exercise
program. Praise the Lord! I must
admit after 4 months of not walking
on two feet it feels strange this
Well, keep up the good recovering
and praise to our Great God.
how wonderful....it's so unbelievable what can be done now....thank you also for all the updates.....and will be wonderful to be e-mailing with Carla soon......she is very blessed with such a wonderful husband and family....hugs...to all...ruthie Minnesota
Glad to hear about the improvements. I'm so happy you got rid of your oxygen. I've been on oxygen more on than off in the last six years so I know what it's like to have difficulty breathing and to be tied to that tube in your nose. Hopefully after my transplant I will be able to get rid of my oxygen. Pray that you will be able to be discharged tomorrow. Nancy Parnell
Dear Carla - Your progress must be bordering setting new records - What a great witness for the Lord's mighty power and mercy - Indeed we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and His watchcare is over all! So glad to hear you were able to stop the oxygen and get your first shower! Can't believe you might be discharged by the end of this week!!! Won't you Senna (sp?) be excited to see you sooner than you thought, ir you're really able to come home earlier than originally planned?
Jen, thanks again for your time and care and all the updates for your Mom . . . and for your "go-between" status for your dad with the hospital. What a blessing you've been to them, and to us. Thank Erik & the kids for sharing you with all of us.
Missed seeing you both, Randy & Carla in church yesterday, but you were there in our hearts & prayers. Randy, hope your cold is all cleared up by now -
We'll keep checking the postings to see how things are going, and when you might be getting back to FL - Love, Darla
Dear Carla, We were so heartened to hear of your wonderful progress. During Sunday School yesterday your name was added to our prayer list and Sandra Stone handed out the prayer sheet with your journal address. We pray for your continued recovery and bless your wonderful family for their support. We're looking forward to seeing your smiling face back at GIBC. Love and Blessings, Sheila and Val Williams
Bob and I are so glad to hear that you are getting stronger everyday. We are in prayer daily that things will go smoothly. What a joy to have Jennifer there to help. God has truly blessed us with great daughters. Much love Jill and Bob
We missed you at Grace this morning....Pastor Jerry gave us an update about you from the pulpit, thanking God for His loving care in your surgery.
A blessed day of teaching as Pastor Jerry finished Romans 4.....such an encouraging message about the Truth of the Bible and the authority it carries as the Word of God. And what a great hope for us as followers of Jesus Christ knowing that God has raised Him from the dead for our justification, and through Jesus Christ we can have peace again with God!
We are so blessed to a be a part of your family in Christ, and to be able to lift you in prayer. Pastor Jerry also read Psalm 139 today, and I was reminded once again of God's sovereign grace in the life of a believer. Thankful we serve such a loving God.
We can't wait until you are back at Grace with us....hope you know how much you are loved and highly esteemed by the body at GIBC and well beyond.
with my love in Christ,
Nancy for the K's
19Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb;
20yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
21and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.
22Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
23Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him,
24but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
There is progress and that matters. The fluid in the lung is pretty common. I was able to come home with meds and it took about two weeks to work. Carla is getting excellent care so continue to keep faith that all the right decisions are being made. Give Carla my best. Continuing with lots of prayers.
Jennifer and Randy......it's so wonderful that you keep family and friends so informed...it's beyond belief......your in my prayers......and also at mass this Sunday morning.....God's blessings on your entire family.......hugs....ruthie....Minnesota
We are happy to hear that things are going well with your recovery. I was thinking that Jennifer could start a new career as a "hospital consultant". I have learned because of my parents the importance of staying on top of things and asking lots of questions during a hospital stay, but it is often confusing for a non medical person. It is fantastic that Jennifer has the knowledge to make sure everything goes as it should. You make a great team, and that will only be a positive as you recover from surgery. Take care!
THAT WAS FROM OUR BIBLE READING THIS AM!-THEN PASTOR JERRY THANKED THE LORD FOR THE PERFECT CARE THE LORD HAS RENDERED FOR CARLA. WE ALL HAVE YOU , YOUR FAMILY AND ESPECIALLY CARLA IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS DAILY. I WILL PRAY THAT THE PLEURAL EFFUSION IS HELPED BY THE LASIX, AND THAT SHE WILL GET STRENGTH FOR HER LUNGS, AND SHE WILL NOT NEED THE O2.I THANK OUR PRECIOUS SAVIOR THAT HE IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL.
Dear Carla and Family,
What a praise that you are doing ok.
I have a sinus infection so wasnt
able to go to church this morning,
but George said Pastor Jerry gave
an update from the pulpit on your
Even tho we dont know Jennifer sure
sounds like she has been a huge help.
Praising our Lord she was able to be
with you and Randy.
You take care and looking forward
to another update to praise our Lord.
We are praying for the fluid to
go away. Because of Him, Judy and Doc z
Our church had you in our prayers this morning. I am sure you were in a lot of church prayers today. Fr. chris will keep you in our prayers until I tell him you are well and home again. Take care Carla. You have support from your wonderful family and friends and a lot of people that don't even know you. Love ya, Sharon
My fluid was removed here at home, 3 weeks post op. Breathing was immensly improved after that, so having it done in the hospital if need be, will help. Seems like a lot of fluid for IV Lasix to remove. You are blessed to be in the best heart hospital there is. When I was there last month I felt there wasn't any problem they hadn't dealt with before. Prayers continue.
Sounds like you are doing well-even though you feel like you've been "Run over by a truck." Recovery is rough due to the ups and downs and wondering when it will be only "Ups! Ups! Ups! You wonderful person to be going through what all you're going through but you made a prayer request for me. I always knew you were q wonderful person.Keep up the good work. Nancy Parnell
Good morning Carla, Jen and Randy,
We are still here in Wisconsin, praying for you. We know that are prayers have a long way to travel, but I know they are getting to you. We are almost ready for church so have a much better day then yesterday. Love Ya, Sharon& Walter
Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with thee
Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not,
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." Lamentations 3:21-24
HI, we are so glad everything went ok. We have been praying for you. We will continue to pray for your blood pressure to be elevated and your strength. We love reading this journal. Your daughter Jennifer seems so sweet in taking care of you. Vanessa learned the whole song that Sara had learned and memorized it too. She loves it. We miss you and love you. We will continue praying for you. One of my favorite verse is Romans 8:28 saying "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who has been called according to his purpose." It helps me to know God is in control and everything will be ok.
Magda and Vanessa Kaminski
Dear Carla.....and family.......sounds like you have so much wonderful support....will be going to mass in the morning....and will put you in my prayers......as I do everyday...God Bless and keep you safe.as well as your friend......hugs...ruthie in Minnesota...
I can't tell you how meaningful these updates have been to me! Thanks so much to your sweet daughter for...being there, caring for you and keepin us up to date. It's all reminding me of being with my dad - but of course that was a whole different deal (cancer). I know how long those days and nights can be. It's so good that you have two family members who can 'tag team' the hospital stays. You're so right about there being NO SLEEP in the hospital!!!
So...I will be praying for your strength to increase and your appetite to improve and that pain to stay away and...just general healing and well-being for ALL OF YOU.
What a dear you are to be there through this for your mom and dad. Having you there would give your dad great confidence in knowing Carla is totally in the best hands. Have faith that Carla will begin to feel better but it's still a very tough go so she deserves total praise for her endurance. Adding your dear friend Nancy to my prayers as well.
Carla, We have been following your week and are grateful for your successful journey. We pray for the return of your strength and complete healing of your heart. Jennifer, you are a true blessing! Wishing you sweet dreams tonight. Love, Linda and Gene
Today was the Brunch and Tea by the Sea at church. Sarah and Lizzy helped me hostess a table. Cat Gilmore and Katie Phillips sat with us to enjoy the girls. The fellowship hall was full to capacity with 250 ladies! We had a wonderful time! Tomorrow the children's choir is singing Precious Jesus in the two morning services. I"m sure Sarah told you she is doing the opening solo, followed by Tori Giol. We miss you, our faithful piano teacher! We will be thinking of you especially during services tomorrow without you in your "on stage" position! We are praying for your recovery and peace. I am so glad to hear you pain is minimal, even though the rehab is slow and hard. Have Jennifer read Psalm 46, is is a great comfort to me!
All our Love in God our sustainer!

What a privilige it is to continue praying for you, our sister in Christ. Reading through all of the prayers that are being offered up on your behalf... and keeping up with the daily journaling to help focus our prayers... we can surely see how "Great is God's faithfulness!" And it's not over! You are gaining strength ever so quickly. It must be those chocolate coissants. Our family will continue to pray for you, as well as the staff and doctors that will be attending to you... that any "reading" are accurately stated, etc. We know you will continue to be strengthened, not only in body, but in your faith in Jesus Christ.
We love you in Christ,
"...And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him." (James 5:14-15)
I SAID A LITTLE PRAYER FOR YOU TO REGAIN STRENGTH BEFORE I SENT THIS MESSAGE. I THINK MY VERY FAVORITE VERSE IS "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD"JUST REST QUIETLY IN THE LORD'S STRENGTH, AND LET HIM THAT HOLDS US IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND STRENGTHEN YOU EVERYDAY!WE ALL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!
IN CHRISTIAN LOVE,
My child, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.
He said, "If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in his sight, and give heed to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you."
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress; he sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.
You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you.
The prayer lines have sure been busy. I wait anxiously for each update & I'm so glad you can be together. I know your mom really appreaciates you Jen. I continue to pray for your strength so you can enjoy a life without so many concerns. Love you both. God is good. Love, Mom
What joy to see Erik's entry! That should be an energy boost for today and many days to come. You are able to be there because he is holding down the fort at home. I know first hand what a blessing that is!
I'm glad you referred to "your patients" because some reading this may not realize your training to be the perfect caregiver at this time. Randy must be delighted that you know just what to do and when to do it.
A verse for Carla, who is weak, and you and other weary family members:
"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."
II Corinthians 12:9
A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Good Morning Carla,
We leave Colorado today and as I look at the mts. I think of Psalm 121...I lift my eyes to the hills where my helps comes from...and I know your help comes from Him who is above also. I can't help but remember you and Randy and the many fun times we had. Wish we could do it again.
Love you, Pat
Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Good Morning Carla,
I was told each day would not necessarily be a better day than the day before, but that is what I wanted, but the doctors were right. Walk as much as you can and then rest in between, the combination will help. Has the pulmonary tech been in to give you the spirometer to use? Some people call it a torture device but for me it was (and still is) a necessary evil.My verse for you is one you gave me (and others).
Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Hey there . . . don't try any fancy foot races today . . . wait till tomorrow at least. Rejoicing daily with you for each new stage in your recovery . . . My mom would agree with you about no sleep in the hospital - she counted 27 staff people in one day on her last stay. We miss you - getting ready for the Ladies' Tea - I'll pass along your news to one and all - Much love, many prayers - Darla
So thankful that Carla continues to do so well. As you well know, every day is uneven and the progress is not uniform, and that's okay. I well remember the middle of the night visits and labs. Well, blurry as it is! Keep on pushing at the right level without pushing too hard. Delicate balance and art. God is so with you and giving you everything you need.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
I PRAISE GOD THAT YOU ARE DOING SO WELL! YOU ARE CONSTANTLY IN MY PRAYERS, AS WELL AS ALL THE FAMILY, AS IT IS STRESSFUL FOR THEM TOO. OUR LORD HAS BEEN FAITHFUL AND I PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME.I THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL WAY OF KEEPING US IN TOUCH WITH YOU-BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN WORRIED TOO. WHAT A JOY TO SEE HOW THE LORD IS CARRYING YOU THROUGH AND NOW MY PRAYER IS TO CONTINUE MAKING YOU STONGER, SO YOU CAN BE BACK WITH US!
What a praise to our Lord for how well you are doing and the successful surgery. You have all been in our prayers daily. We love getting the updates. That helps our prayers to be more focused. We miss you and look forward to your return home.
Dear Carla, Randy, and Jennifer, It has been so wonderful to be able to track with you so closely during this time when you are many miles away from us! Our hearts are definitely with you, along with our prayers! Praise our wonderful, faithful Heavenly Father for how He has watched over you and brought you through this challenging experience. We love and miss you! Bob and Pat Whitneey
