Keep something going- you don't want to regress. How about seated yoga? That would also help state of mind. Wish I was there to help.

BUT the good news is that you are aware, know this is a temporary setback and can do what you need to do to keep positive and take this one day at a time. I just posted my setback of endocarditis and had to have my heart surgery redone only 12 weeks after the first and get 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. but to keep my sanity, i had to see the good in it and keep positive and my sense of humor. keep your positive attitude and the walk will come in time! keep posting your feelings.

A good rehab plan can deal with this issue, that is, keep you going toward your goals while you heal. You can learn ways to exercise with this injury that will maintain your gains and strength. I am no expert on what substitute exercises are advisable and available to you, but they are out there. Please look ever so hard for some expert help on the next step to take so you can continue to get better. That injury will heal and you want to be ahead of the game when it does. So much support is coming your way from me.

I had a bone spur with plantar fasciitis. Got the power step orthotics, got rid of all my flats and flip flops. Over a year later and no pain! So it can heal. Do your leg exercises from your chair, too. You will make it! Praying for you.

Isn't it good to get outside and move? I had HVR surgery on May 30 and agree with you that the days following are becoming a blur. In fact, the month of June seems so vague now. I began walking our trail last week after spending a few weeks touring just the neighborhood. Keep up the good work

I'm glad you are doing a quarter mile! That's great. All of us heal differently. I am 8 1/2 weeks post op and I am only doing 1/4 mile at a time on my treadmill. I WAS fit before surgery but seem to have lost all my muscle. I am disappointed because I thought I would bounce back with no problem. I thought I would be walking and jogging and swimming by now. I think it has to do with the medication we are on. I am taking Lopressor and amiodarone , Lipitor, baby aspirin, metformin and a couple other things. They make me feel horrible. We will get there just may take us a little longer. Hang in there you're doing great even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes. :)

I was out of the hospital at 7 days and right back in a day and a half later with A-FIB. 3 hour ambulance ride was not fun. Since then I have been fine, so just have a little faith and you will be home soon. I do understand about wanting to go home. I told my surgeon on that last day that I was done and I wanted to go home. It will happen. When you get home things will get better everyday. Just getting home is the good part. I have had a little bit of depression, but not bad. I just talk myself out of it. Hang in there. I am 5 weeks post AVR and am doing o.k. would like to be stronger, but will be a little more everyday. It gets better!!

Then I have to have two chairs at the meeting - sit on one and my legs on the other. Oh my- such instructions.

Any one within reach. Sounds like you have the very best recovery advise anywhere in Portland. Been to the heart doc, my internist, and many trips to the wound clinic and felt somewhat encouraged today putting all the advise together. You have me beat though. Are you going to be with us by phone on the 19th. Does it fit into your current schedule which is most important?
