3-12 2010 Delighted to learn that after all the tests you've endured there is no major problem. It appears that all you need is some assistance and time to heal. I'm doing last minute prep for Alpha's "A Day of Authors" which keeps me out of mischief. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to visiting with you in a few weeks.
Hello Ms Simmons, I am Pat Cook(72) from Connecticut. I had an Aortic Valve Replacement plus a single by-pass on 4-1-09. Just a little complication in the hospital. I had an Atrial Fibrillation episode but Intensive Care people took care of that. Today, I feel just like I did before the shortness of breath started. Life is good. You will see. Best regards.
Your new room sounds so much more comfortable. I'm so glad you are feeling well enough to make the change. We missed you at Book Club, but knew it was your birthday. I hope you felt all of the birthday wishes being sent your way. I don't know if you are able to go outside, but if so, the weather is due for a nice warm up. I really appreciate the updates on your situation, so keep them coming!
Bev, it was good news to hear that the battery of tests you endured on Tuesday did not reveal any bad news. Now to recover from the tests! Karen and I had a great trip to the Farmers' Mkt. on Wednesday (your birthday). That afternoon she got the good news that you would be eligible for the Transitional Care Center. I know you can have visistors there and I plan to visit you on Friday. Love, Joyce
hAPPY dAY AFTER YOUR b-DAY AND WHAT A B-DAY IT WAS. uNfortunately, I arrived and left too early but was so glad/relieved to see you looking so well. Today I interview a new tax accountant or it might be the other way around, anyway, I have a feeling I will compare it to your 4 hour agony on the X-ray slab!! See you soon. Love ya, Irene
I'm so grateful prayers are being answered, dear Bev. Your birthday gift is simply to BE HERE. We all love you and plan to celebrate as soon as we can all be together again - with or without our daughters.
Hi Bev and family
You all have to be extremely proud of this very strong and brave woman. Bev, you have to take a well deserved bow as well for the fortitude you obviously show in your gift of enjoying life to its fullest. You amaze me and I love to tell your story. You take good care of yourself and get well so you can return to what you enjoy best. Living. Cheryl, Ontario
Wow! What good news. I am thrilled that she will have a room in a branch of the hospital to monitor her progress. Karen, you have been an amazing nurse. Now it;s time for you to be an amazing wife and mom! Can Bev have visitors?
A Birthday you will always remember-Happy 83. i was sitting at my breakfast table this am and watching the birds fighting other birds in my feeder to get on the perch when my squirrel decided he wanted in on the action-so he climbed the tree-came out on the branch -shimmed down the rope and encountered my squirrel guard covering the feeder. Well he got on slid off -repeated the procedure and fell off again. The third time he was wiser and tilted it so he could hang on and swing himself onto the tray and eureka-a feast!! He worked so hard and I enjoyed it so much I let him get away with it for a while then I went out and shooed him away. well the little booger sat on the tree and we had a staring contest until I got within three feet then he scrambled upthe tree-only to repeat the action as soon as I got back into the house. we carried on for some time but secretly I was tickled.God sure gave them lots of persistence and they keep at it until they make it . Just like you Bev-keep at it girl and Happy Birthday!!!
Jimbo & Jaybo say Hi to Bev, and a very happy birthday! I didn't write yesterday, as I didn't believe the age that was stated for you; I thought you were in your early 60s, especially since you were still teaching at CSFU.
Today I did research in County records, and verified your age. Unbelievable.
I have a DVD for you of our performance at the church a week ago. We did good.
I am so sorry that you have had to face this'bump'in your recovery, but you surely know now about all the parts that are working well. The transition care sounds like a very good place for you to be. I am sure they will find the culprit that initiated the blood loss and get you moving again.
Happy Birthday. We missed you at Book Club today. You would have enjoyed the two long reports. Hope you will be at full speed for the spring event in April.
Thoughts and prayers are with you. If you ever need an errand run, there are plenty of us around. Feel better.
Dear Bev- Happy birthday! Book Club this morning wasn't the same without your lovely smile. We are all thinking of you and hope you are soon back with us sharing great stories and good reads. Karen Blackley
happy birthday dear bev! so sorry you are having to spend it in the hospital... hope you get to go home, and are much stronger very soon!
a thousand thanks to lisa and karen for keeping us all posted!
love, hugs, and prayers from az,
Happy Birthday, Bev. We missed you at Book Club this morning. Our spring play day will be at the Casa Romantica in San Clemente. I recall our last play date when I drove Ray's car and did not know how to operate the seat warmer. I plan to drive again and hope that you will be well enough to be my co-pilot.
Do hope that each day you are getting stronger and the many tests you are given will produce a clearer picture for the doctors for how to proceed. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for recovery.
Hi Bev, Karen & Lisa, I keep losing my connection to this journal but fortunately, my sister, Margo, sends it on to me. So glad when I saw you today, you looked GREAT, could it be the prospect of birthday party time or just plain feeling like yourself again. Anyway, we will keep close touch now and check on what the doctors are doing or not doing. You can tell they are going to love us - your friends and family have formed a committee to back up their decisions. ha ha. Take care dear friend , see you soon. Love to you and your caregivers, Irene
Happy Birthday, Bev. We missed you at Book Club today and we are all eager for you to get back to health and reading! It sounds like you have had a terrible ordeal, and Jerry and I are sending our best wishes for your recovery. Love, Mary Lou Samuelson
OK, no more lazing around--we want you back in your home pen :-) Thinking of you and your three little pigs (and their little pig spouses) a lot, and wishing you nothing but great good health on your birthday. As Ma used to tell us: "Courage, Camille!"
Happy Birthday! Whatta way to celebrate! Please know that I am thinking about you and holding you in my constant prayers.
Do you have any unexplored parts of your body left? Your courage and spirit through all of this bespeaks your strength!
Dear, dear Bev, Hang in there, birthday gal--we are all here rooting for you. Especially our Windsong Players who met two days ago to play some lovely new music with you in our hearts. We have all been following your journal and want you to know that you are surrounded by a circle of love and prayer. Looking forward to having you back soon!
Happy Birthday, dear one!! I'm sorry you are spending it "up the street", but am hoping you will get some answers today. I came by the house earlier and left a love gift for you on the chair in the garage. Please, Karen, look for it. As for memories we've shared, I have no idea where to begin. We've been blessed with so many. Just get better so we can keep adding them. Ken and I send our love.
Piglet lay there, wondering what had happened. At first he thought that the whole world had blown up; and then he thought that perhaps only the forest part of it had; and then he thought that perhaps only he had, and he was now alone in the moon or somewhere, and he would never see Christopher Robin or Pooh or Eeyore again. And then he thought, "Well, even if I'm in the moon, I needn't be face downwards all the time," so he got cautiously up and looked about him.......
Mi Mama- looking forward to having you back on earth. Enough space travel for you- you have heard the 269 well wishers on this blog- and the 269+ others out there rallying for your return to the Bevness they have all come to know. We all look forward to having you face upwards!
My love and thoughts on this day for you. XXX000 Lisa
Happy birhtday Bev! Fr Rob and I stopped by yesterday but the nurse wouldn't let us in. Guess they were poking or prodding when we got there. we'll try again today. In the meantime hope you get to relax on your special day. We love you.
Good Morning Bev, Karen & Lisa
Thank you so much for your posts. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEV. Tests, tests, hope there's good news today. Know you'd like to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of the bleeding. Praying for you. Bev, you would have been the best pioneer woman due to your fortitude and positive attitude. Keep smiling.
Will be thinking of you tomorrow, and will be praying that you will soon be back playing bridge with us. I enjoyed the bridge at the Coyotes club; that was a wonderful suggestion to have the bridge there, the lunch was good, and they were very cordial and cooperative for us. Thinking of you.
Birthday Greetings to one of the youngest, young ladies I know. Karen suggested we might include a fond memory. There are a few but one stands out. At Polly's, lessons from a great teacher on the proper manner in which to blow the paper cover off of a straw.
Next lesson on your return might be, how to hit the intended person er I mean noting that your target may be move ever so slightly so administer not quite so much air. Birthday blessings and lots of love from Nancy Kent
A few years ago I remember celebrating your birthday at Book Club! Tomorrow is the second Wednesday, so we will be thinking of you on your special day. I'm glad you gave in and went to St, Jude so you can hurry up and return to us. We all miss your happy little face at our meetings. Thank God for all the remarkable medical treatments available today.
Hi Bev and Karen, Sorry to hear about your setback but glad to hear you're in good hands at St. Jude! We're praying that the Docs figure it all out quickly and you'll be top notch soon. I see by your guestbook that the prayers are swarming in so we'll launch some more your way.
Thanks Karen for the great updates. We're with you both.
Very best wishes on your Birthday; I hope that you will have recovered enough puff to blow all 83 candles at once! I was happy to see you yesterday and hope that next time I see you again your lovely rosy cheeks will be back! Please get better soon so that you are strong enough to come for Easter. Without you a Dygert Family reunion would not be the same!
Ed and Simone
PS: It was a great pleasure to meet you, Karen. You are doing a wonderful job!
Hi and Happy Birthday to Beautiful Bev. Now that you are at St. Jude's, you can rate hospitals and staff, judging everything from mashed potatoes to mattress comfort. I hope you get better very soon so that you can return to your own bed and bath. Make a good wish on your birthday candle.
A very Happy Birthday #83! I had a dream that I saw you at OLLIE and it was so real it took me quite a while to remember that you were still recouping. You were wearing a white polo shirt and black slacks and we had a long-winded conversation. Looking forward to the dream becoming a reality - Gentle Hugs Back at You, Elizabeth Oates
Happy Birthday Bev
We don't know each other except through the Heart Valve Journal. I have followed your progress and prayed for your continued healing. Don't let this setback be to troublesome for you. Stay strong.
Happy Birthday, Bev. I am remembering the great fun Vince and I had traveling with you and Bill in Eastern Europe. It was one of our best trips and we counted you two as cherished friends.
Re-living the happy days of yore and looking forward to more fun at OLLI/Cal State when you are back in form.
Get well soon.
When I think of your birthday, I always think of sitting in my best dress, in your dining room with your grandmother Evie setting the tone of decorum. She would always say " now it is l4 years across the table" etc. Wonderful memories!
Love always. Eliz
Happy Birthday Bev, We were remembering the gondola ride in Venice with you and Bill. We still often talk about our year abroad and all the things we saw and did. Bad english, great memories. Love, Zoob, Isabelle and Sam
Bev, So sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. Since you are having tests today I will wait til tomorrow to come see you. In the meantime, prayers are going heavenward for you. I love you bunches.
So I'm sensing you have a little bit of a stubborn streak going there. Well, I'm very glad to see you gave in and went into the hospital where you can better be diagnosed. I'm praying you get a solution quickly and will return home in no time to get back to healing. Prayers. Cheryl, Ontario
