Anna, I'm writing you after reading a post you made to Phyllis about care at Cleveland Clinic. I'm sorry if my journal was off-putting to you about CC, if I've understood you correctly. I felt the treatment and care I received in the hospital was exemplary. The ICU staff was lovely and highly attentive. I was carefully tended on the step-down unit. Someone came promptly any time I rang with a need. I did suffer some complications, but several of those were common issues for which it's not anyone's fault. The cardiology department nurse practitioners were vigilant with me after discharge when we were working to regulate meds for afib, etc., and they ensured I was safe to fly home before releasing me to return to TX.
I don't know what your current symptoms are. Once you would be released from ICU, they would ordinarily have you up and walking the halls right away to regain your strength. As I have understood in the past from dealing with relatives being released from hospital stays, a person has to qualify in order for insurance to pay for a stay in a rehab. If you're ambulating well, they ordinarily wouldn't send you to one.
Wishing you all the best! :)

Anna Jones Thank you Catie for letting me know your experience at CC. It was actually Amy's blog (from last year) that scared me a lot. She had a really terrible time with the nurses and the after-care.
I'll speak with my doctor about the nursing home. As I am my husband's caretaker, he would not be helpful in caring for me, and there is no one else to help.

Catie B Anna, you had written this to me - "Anna Jones Thank you, Catie. I just read your journal. I think I am going to change my mind about CC." So I was concerned that something I'd written adversely affected you. I did have some difficulties with them on the administrative side, while setting things up. I, too, was quite concerned about Amy's experiences, so I understand your wanting to be very proactive about your care. I completely understand facing this alone. I know you'll find the resources you need.

Peggy Whitecotton Many Times they will send you to a rehab if you live alone. I was asked if I had anyone to help and could have gone to one but I was able to stay with my son and his family so I chose to do that. but my insurance which is medicare and Humana would have paid up to 2 weeks in rehab

Catie B Anna, it's okay. I just wanted to clarify, especially if I'd said something that might have come across as too negative, or something. Take care!
Anna Jones Thanks, Peggy. I will make sure to let everyone know that I will need a nursing/rehab facility

Hello Anna- Big thumbs up to you on taking care of business with your health care.
Your follow through and patience got you where you needed to go and most people would not have had the patience not to "lose it" with the people involved. It is to your benefit to do what you did and get the results necessary to take the proper care of your health issues when the frustration level sometimes turns us away to put these things off 'til later which is not always a good move. Good thing. Now you get to move forward and I hope your road is smooth and all goes well! (By the way, off subject, but I would love to see a photo of your tri-color springer! I love the temperament of these dogs and my puppy is going to be my favorite thing as we move into 2016. I enjoyed your post on my "Rylee and Kat" photos! Happy new year heart sister!
