We love you so much,

Hi Amy
Working out way up the chain from cardiologist to surgeon is a mine field but it looks as if that is over for you know. I'm glad you have your date and great that it is so soon. Get it over with. After your surgery I will be really interested to see what you think of the robotic approach. You have a busy couple of weeks ahead. I'll be watching for updates. You are in my prayers. Hi Amy,
I had my TEE and cardiac cauterization on Wednesday and am scheduled for my MV replacement on 24th Feb. After the tests I asked my surgeon (Mr Frank Wells at Papworth Hospital Cambridge UK)if I would be a candidate for the minimally invasive option or at least a mini chest cut. He explained carefully why he wasn't prepared to go that route. He has promised to start the cut lower so that it won't be so visible, and he has assured me that he is meticulous about his work both visible and invisible. I really recommend that you get 2 copies of your list of questions together for your consultant and have someone with you to write down the answers. I was dreading the TEE (which I never felt at all) but wasn't prepared for the groin tube. It is really sore for 2 days after because of swelling. No-one on the journals has mentioned this, I can only think that it is quickly forgotten and dwarfed by the major op or that I am a big baby! I have signed up for your email updates and look forward to comparing notes!
Warmest wishes

Hi Amy
I'm 3 months post-op for Mitral Regurgitation and my only option was the full cut and crack open surgery. It really wasn't so bad. The time leading up to surgery is the scariest time of all. Do you prep work and gather all the information you can get your hands on. It all helps. In no time at all you'll be back on the golf course with this all behind you. Good luck. I'll be watching for further postings. Cheryl, Ontario

Hi Amy,
Nice to meet you and thanks for sharing your story with us.
If you are a candidate for the robotic procedure, let me know if you would like a direct connection with Dr. Chitwood at East Carolina Heart Institute. Dr. Chitwood is one of the gurus when it comes to the da Vinci robot and mitral valve repair.
