Well&#8230;. Here is her post-operative update:<\/p>\n<p>Hey Adam!<\/p>\n<p>I wrote to you several months ago about heart valves and pregnancy. I just wanted to send you a quick update!<\/p>\n<p>I had my surgery on May 14th at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/surgeons\/dr-Edward+-Chen-Atlanta-Georgia.php\">Doctor Ed Chen was my surgeon<\/a>. I cannot say enough about how wonderful he and the Emory staff were to work with.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/Images\/shannon.jpg\" alt=\"Shannon - Heart Surgery Patient With Unicuspid Heart Valve\" width=\"293\" height=\"389\" \/><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chen replaced a section of my aorta to correct an aortic aneurysm. I have known my entire life that I have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/bicuspid-aortic-valve-symptoms.php\">a bicuspid aortic valve<\/a>, however, in surgery the surgeon discovered I actually have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/2008\/12\/18\/unicuspid-aortic-heart-valves\/\">a unicuspid aortic valve (only one leaflet)<\/a>! FYI, the docs think I should be fine to have kids before replacing the valve!<\/p>\n<p>I attached a picture of my incisions exactly one week after surgery (see above).
