{"id":805,"date":"2009-05-19T07:07:13","date_gmt":"2009-05-19T12:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/2009\/05\/19\/life-insurance\/"},"modified":"2025-07-12T07:31:37","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T12:31:37","slug":"life-insurance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/2009\/05\/19\/life-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Can You Get Life Insurance After Heart Valve Surgery?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not sure if you remember&#8230; But, I tried getting life insurance after my heart valve surgery for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng time.<\/p>\n<p>During this process, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/2009\/01\/30\/health-insurance-after-heart-surgery\/\">I have been denied<\/a>, even auto-denied, by some of the largest insurance carriers as soon as they learn that I had my aortic and pulmonary valves replaced during my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/ross-procedure-aortic-disease\">Ross Procedure<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Well&#8230; I have some good news to report!!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/paul-wolf-northwestern-mutual.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Wolf Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I was recently approved for a life insurance plan!!!<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that an old, college friend of mine, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paul-a-wolf.com\/\">Paul Wolf<\/a>, is in the insurance business. When I told him that I was having trouble obtaining coverage he said, &#8220;Let me take a crack at it!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, Paul delivered!!!<\/p>\n<p>As for pricing, the\u00a0insurance policy did come with a\u00a0significant premium because of my medical history. According to Paul, my plan costs about\u00a0three times greater than a normal policy. But, when I\u00a0thought about it, I want to make sure that Robyn (my wife) and Ethan (my son) are taken care of should anything happen to me.<\/p>\n<p>I know many of you have experienced similar challenges obtaining life insurance after heart surgery.
