The company was later purchased by Artivion.

The On-X mitral valve is a carbon bileaflet heart valve prosthesis.

According to the Artivion website, the primary focus of the On-X mechanical valve replacement is that it was engineered for exceptional clinical performance, has optimal hemodynamics (mean gradients ≤ 4.4 mmHG across all valve sizes ≥ 25 mm reducing risk of PPM and has optimal length and leaflet guards designed to conceal pledgets, reduce risk of pannus and provide complete annular support when retaining subvalvular structure.

According to the company, over 50,000 On-X valves have been implanted since 1996.

I hope this give you some background on the On-X mechanical valve for mitral replacement surgery.
