It&#8217;s a special day to raise awareness to this under-diagnosed, under-treated, and deadly form of heart disease.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/HVD-Awareness-Day-logo.jpg\" alt=\"Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Why Raise Awareness to Heart Valve Disease?<\/h2>\n<p>If you didn&#8217;t know&#8230; Heart valve disease is often referred to as a \u201csilent killer\u201d by medical professionals.\u00a0 Furthermore, this insidious disease can also cause debilitating symptoms and other cardiac conditions including atrial fibrillation, aortic aneurysms and heart failure.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of awareness to valvular disorders including aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation is downright scary. Consider these statistics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As many as 15.3 million Americans have heart valve disease<\/li>\n<li>75% of people know little to nothing about this debilitating and deadly disease<\/li>\n<li>20% of people aged 75+ have heart valve disease<\/li>\n<li>25,000 people die each year from valvular disorders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Can Heart Valve Therapy Help Patients?<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s not just \u201cgood news\u201d about heart valve therapies that include repair and replacement operations&#8230;.\u00a0 No, no, no&#8230; There\u2019s \u201cgreat news\u201d about favorable outcomes and restored life expectancy for patients who undergo traditional and minimally techniques for the treatment of heart valve disease.<\/p>\n<p>Fyi, I&#8217;m a great case study.
