The happiness.  That special feeling when I open my email and see a patient success story from the HeartValveSurgery.com community.<\/p>\n<p>This time&#8230; Tapan Mehta, from Northern California, brought a smile to my face.\u00a0 As he approaches his fifth anniversary after heart valve surgery, here is what Tapan wrote to me:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32095\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/tapan-mehta.jpg\" alt=\"Tapan Mehta - Heart Valve Patient with Daughter at Michigan Football Game\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Hi Adam,<\/p>\n<p>I hope this note finds you and the family well.<\/p>\n<p>We last spoke almost five years ago as I was getting ready for my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/aortic-valve-replacement-surgery.php\">aortic valve replacement surgery<\/a>.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m coming up on 5 years next month!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe how fast the time has gone by.\u00a0 I continue to read every email that you send out.\u00a0 I cannot thank you enough of all the work that you have put in over the years and continue to do so for patients &#8211; like us &#8211; who are going through some of the toughest decisions of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/Tapan-After-Surgery.jpg\" alt=\"Heart Valve Patient After Surgery in Hospital with Family\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have enjoyed life and continue to enjoy every single day since my surgery.\u00a0 I jokingly call myself &#8220;Tapan v2.0&#8221; after my surgery.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Perspective on life after surgery has been very positive. \u00a0Things that would have typically rattled me before my operation, don&#8217;t bother me anymore.\u00a0 Plus, daily meditation does help.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32149\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/tapan-mehta-2.jpg\" alt=\"Heart Surgery Patient With Family In Front of Rainbow\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today, I am in the best shape of my life as I continue to run, bike, hike, you name it.\u00a0 In fact, I just did a half-marathon and 35-mile bike ride over the past week.
