The other day… I couldn’t help but focus on a headline about dogs and heart disease prevention.<\/p>\n

The article, “The Benefits of Pets: How the Human-Animal Bond is Evolving”<\/a>, relayed several interesting facts about how animals bring health and happiness to the lives of pet owners.\u00a0 As you can see in my smile above, I have personally experienced that since Bodie joined our family 18 months ago.<\/p>\n

However… Taken one step further, the story indicated that doctors may soon be recommending animal interaction for people for medicinal reasons.<\/p>\n

That’s right.<\/p>\n

The tangible medical value of pups stretches way beyond snuggles, kisses and joy.\u00a0 And, it eclipses the functional, medical support of noble guide dogs that help those who are sight impaired.<\/p>\n

When it comes to heart health, there is new evidence that the positive impact of pets includes better cardiovascular function including lower blood pressure and stress reduction.<\/p>\n

One study just reported that people in households with dogs are almost 15% less likely to die as a result of heart disease.<\/p>\n
