But, a few months later, Dr. Adams and I\u00a0met by phone. \u00a0Then, about a year after that, we had lunch together in San Diego at the Society of Thoracic Surgeons conference.<\/p>\n<p>During that\u00a0lunch, I found myself\u00a0repeatedly nodding my head up and down as Dr. Adams spoke about the need for patient education. I learned a lot during that meeting. Specifically, I learned about the advantages of mitral valve repair &#8212; which we would later discuss in this educational video.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uOM7_8ayUAc\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Dr. Adams Helps\u00a0Educate\u00a0Our Community!<\/h2>\n<p>Since then, I have been extremely lucky\u00a0to collaborate\u00a0with Dr. Adams on several projects. Together, our teams have filmed many educational videos. I have traveled to the Dominican Republic with Dr. Adams\u00a0on a medical mission. Most recently, we posted\u00a0a free eBook titled, &#8220;Advances in Mitral Valve Surgery&#8221; that you can download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/eBook-Advances-In-Mitral-Valve-Surgery.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Free eBook: Advances in Mitral Valve Surgery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/eBook-Advances-In-Mitral-Valve-Surgery.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19181\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/heart-surgery-blog\/..\/Images\/Download-EBook-Now-Advances-Mitral.jpg\" alt=\"Download Advances in Mitral Valve Surgery\" width=\"550\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today, Dr. Adams performs about 300 mitral valve cases a year. In addition to being the Cardiac Surgeon-In-Chief at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart-valve-surgery.com\/hospital\/mount-sinai-heart-valve-clinic\">Mount Sinai Hospital<\/a>, Dr. Adams is also the Program Director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mitralvalverepair.org\">Mitral Valve Repair Reference Center<\/a> which has set a national benchmark of greater than 99% degenerative mitral valve repair rates. Yes, you read that right. Over 99% repair rates!<\/p>\n<p>But, that&#8217;s not all&#8230; Dr. Adams continues to\u00a0lead philanthropic medical missions to China, the Dominican Republic, Thailand and Vietnam. Here is a video we filmed together in the Dominican Republic. On this mission, four patients with severe mitral regurgitation got a &#8216;second chance&#8217; at life thanks to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mitralfoundation.org\">Mitral Foundation<\/a>, a charitable organization that Dr. Adams runs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nOpt7eAwoI8\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How Does Dr. Adams Educate Your Doctors?<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. Adams also runs very specialized trainings and conferences specific to mitral valve surgery. In this video, you will\u00a0go inside the Mitral Valve Reconstruction Workshop, a two-day conference that uses live, patient cases to teach, to educate and to discuss the latest techniques for mitral valve therapy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5ljpLeU-dp0\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Adams&#8217; approach to physician education culminates in a unique conference known as the Mitral Conclave. During the Mitral Conclave, over 1,000 cardiologists and surgeons gather in New York to discuss the best practices for mitral valve surgery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_PjY6HdR3-g\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Adams gets great surgical results.
