Hello! My name is Dr. Gorav Ailawadi and I am a cardiac surgeon having graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in 1998. To date, I have performed approximately 2,400 cardiac surgeries, of which 1,000 involved heart valve procedures. I regularly perform surgery at University of Virginia Medical Center. Read more...
I believe my greatest strength is my unique approach to patient care.
First, I treat highly complex patients including those deemed too high risk by other surgeons. As a result, patients are often referred from great distances to our clinic due to our expertise in this area.
Second, I am an innovator and have experience with many of the newest technologies. I was the first heart surgeon in the United States to perform the MitraClip therapy for mitral valve repair and was the first surgeon to perform a hybrid (dual endocardial and epicardial) ablation for atrial fibrillation.
Last, and most important, I am committed to providing each patient compassionate, high quality care.
"My surgeon was able to do a minimally invasive procedure. Everything went very well. Dr. Ailawadi is very likeable and professional."
