"Dr. Murphy was phenomenal. Great bedside manner- spent tons of time explaining the procedure to me AND my parents both over the phone (I traveled from Florida to have him perform the procedure) and in person. I never felt rushed and he was extremely patient. The procedure itself was certainly not fun, but I imagine it's the best route to take for heart surgery. I took pain meds for less than 2 weeks and was almost fully recovered by 3 weeks. I was up and walking the day after surgery and released from the hospital after 3 days. My heart function was completely normal and size had shrunk back to normal as of my last echocardiogram (which was 6-8 weeks post-op). Now at almost a year post-op, I feel better than before surgery and am currently 5 months pregnant and doing great. Patients travel from all over the country to have Dr. Murphy perform this same surgery- he has performed over 2,000 of them and was one of the pioneers in the robotic heart surgery. He gave me a 98-99% repair rate (vs full replacement)- I got a much lower rate (75%) when speaking with a local surgeon about the same procedure via sternotomy. I couldn't be happier and heartily recommend Dr. Murphy at Emory / St. Joseph's hospital, Atlanta, GA."

"Dr. Douglas Murphy was such a wonderful doctor -- great bedside manner and treated my family with such respect and caring. His staff is excellent also. I've not used pain medication yet. For me, robotics is the only way to go."
