Hi All: Met with the Dr and he said Theo does not need valve replacement yet. This is good news! They do not like to do surgery until it is absolutely necessary as they worry about the valves wearing out and then folks needing another operation. The 2nd test gave them a good view of the heart, a much better one than the echo test she had a few weeks back. An aorta valve is leaking but not as bad as they had thought. The leaking mitra valve is just a minimal leak at this point. Her blood pressure has to be under control and additional meds are starting tonight for that. She is not under any restricitions (I am putting this in as she made sure first with the Dr that I could remove the ones I had smartly, with so much kindness and caring had put in place). She is resting, a bit of difficulty with the blood leaking as they had gone up her femoral artery to look at her heart. So we will be here another 2-3 hours as they keep an eye that it clots shut well. Hi All: I would have sent an update earlier, but the computer in the family lounge is well..very outdated. I should have caught on earlier when I had to step over the pile of dinosaur dung. OK, I will not go off in that direction, as someday Theo might actually read "her" journal. She is currently in the 2nd procedure. The 1st one happened around 8:30. It involved her swishing lanicane around her mouth and getting a med like one is given for a colonoscopy-the only reason I think a patient should be given that comparison is that those meds make you forget the procedure, otherwise I do not think it is prudent or prunish to do so. After the 2nd procedure, I will have an opportunity to speak with the Dr. This 2nd procedure involves putting a probe from into her right groin area artery and up and all around the heart to get a good look. She will then have to lie flat for 5 hours to be sure the bleeding from the incision area stops. She slept in between procedures, so that was good. We will then go back to the hotel. As she has been fasting all day I bet she will be hungry. Some have asked why her profile page only says "I am Theo." She had asked me to set this journal up. I had about 7 paragraphs written for her profile page and took a moment to read it over. Well I noticed some great words jumping out at me...and then others such as sweet, stubborn, ALWAYS expects queen treatment, cranky...with I realized were just not true. Deb
