I just want to thank everyone who responded to my last entry for your concern and helpful suggestions. You have all been unbelievably wonderful and caring. I am considering a 2nd opinion although I have talked to my doc and her explanation sounds reasonable and she is very sure that my heart valve is, in fact, normal. I\'m sure I will keep following you on your journeys and wish you all health and wonderfully strong hearts and quick recoveries from surgery.

Well, went in for the TEE yesterday afternoon and it was a breeze. (Of course I don\'t remember anything about it.). I started having very irregular heart rate yesterday morning which continued at the hospital for all to see and record which was probably a good thing as my cardiologist had not seen me like this before and for the 30 days that I wore a monitor nothing happened. So after the TEE I was told that I do NOT have a bicuspid valve with regurgitation and I was still too groggy to ask any questions. She prescribed Cardizem, a calcium channel blocker which is supposed to control the A-fib and I started that today.
Now my concern is with these echos and how the first one could have showed a bicuspid valve and regurgitation and now the TEE shows nothing. I guess if that\'s correct it\'s a good thing except that almost seemed more fixable than this. I plan to call her and either talk to her by phone or go in to see her for further explanation, but I\'m wondering if I should get a second opinion just to be sure and ease my mind. I have so many questions and find this all so confusing so I\'m just wondering if anyone else has experienced or heard of anything like this. Why can\'t anything ever be simple???

I am possibly staring on this journey that you are all on. I feel good except for occasional feelings of lightheadedness and sometimes feel like my heartbeat is very irregular. About a year and a half ago I had several episodes of rapid heartbeat and ended up in the emergency room on Christmas Eve. Then everything seemed ok since then until several months ago. But it was only very recently that I was told that I had a bicuspid valve which was regurgitating. Freaked me out to say the least. I\'ll have a TEE on Aug. 13 so should know more after that. Maybe it will turn out to be nothing but I have a feeling that won\'t be the case. There probably won\'t be anything to report until then but just wanted everyone to know how much reading these journals has helped to relieve my anxiety and fear. I\'ll continue to follow all your journeys and wish you all the best possible outcomes of your surgeries and recoveries.
