17 days into this adventure. A new bovine Aortic Valve and septal myomectomy. I had been told to expect breast bone incision pain but luckily all has been what I would describe as minor. I have had chronic back pain and multiple surgeries for spinal issues. What I have had is several weeks of confusion, occupation migraines and weakness. Bp has finally leveled off around 120/78. My walking distance has increased, but I must listen to my body (and wife 😎). If I don't I will find myself sitting on the floor.
It's been an amazing trip. I feel I am young at 68 to be going through this. It is also why I am doing so well right now. I can see progress, but it sometimes it comes sooooo slowly. Some of the surprises:
1. Occupation Migraines.
2. Hearing my heart beat in the silence of night.
3. When I first go to sleep on my back, I notice my head bouncing sligtly from my pulse in my neck. I roll on my side.
Will write you all more as these wonders continue.
Thank you Jesus for this chance.

Nancy D It will get better and easier. The heart "awareness" especially when trying to sleep also decreases as the heart adjusts to the new circulation. I had Migraines since childhood, but had such an increase of ocular auras which usually preceed a migraine but since surgery the vision disturbances are not followed by a headache. Good thing as I was getting them multiple times per day immediately after the surgery, but those too are much improved. The shift in circulation since valve replacement and other repairs takes a bit for the body to normalize. This is my take on it anyway.
Listen to your body when it tells you to rest. Or you will be on the floor more often, or having more down days than up.
The journey isn't rapid but worth the work! Hang in there! take good care!!
