Rob called me last night to thank me for all I did with keeping this Journal updated and keeping all of you the family and friends updated and informed.
He stated to me last night that this is the best he has felt in 17 to 18 years. He attributes it all to the replacement of the Aorta and the larger valve.
Digressing a few days I want to share with all of you how this journal came to be . On Dec 11th I woke up at 1:30 AM stressed out . My step son Rob is going thru valve replacement surgery and I am clueless on what to expect. My fears and anxiety was getting the best on me. I searched Google on line “ Heart Valve replacement surgery” . It came up with this book, The Patients guide to Heart Valve Surgery by Adam Pick. . I down loaded and read the book that night. It was an easy read The book calm my fears of the unknown it gave me a better understanding of what to expect. I shared excerpts with Rob and Lyn to try to calm there fears it helped. But they both had been thru this twice before. But years ago technology has come a long way in Seventeen years. I went to Adams web site to down load the book that’s were I discovered this great tool this Journal I signed up Robert Lile for the Journal. Thank you Adam pick for writing the book and maintaining this site.
Adam has had a few comments in the guess book during Robs journey . How cool is that the author has the time to put a good word in for Rob

I slept in Robs room last night and actually slept a few hours which is probably the most I have gotten. He still has nausea and pain but is getting rid of tubes and such hourly. He had at least 8 different bags of fluids and is down to a couple. Still has foley and 4 chest tubes. Oxygen is off. He has been walking in the halls and sitting up in the chair. He has some congestion, probably from being intubated so trying to loosen some of that is uncomfortable . I suspect more improvement today. He is getting a little cranky which is a good sign of improvement. Jodi and Bill are due in later today.

Toots her long time friend picked her up at the airport and They drove to Madison to meet up with Rob he was going in for pre op today, Getting all those test done and stick a few needles into him and get him ready for the operation tomorrow. Rob seems to be taking it in stride. Lyn seems calm on the out side but a pile of raw nerves on the inside and I suspect Rob is the same way. Not a pleasant experience going thru open heart Surgery and having a valve replaced.the surgery is scheduled for 7AM Central time t6omorrow 12/17/09. They expect the surgery to take 6-8hrs since it is his third surgery. He most likely will spend 6 to 8 days in the hospital Lyn spend better than 4 hrs visiting and being with Rob today. Lyn went home with her brother Ray and sister in law Carol tonight intends to be back to the hospital at 6 AM tomorrow
Update 12 /17/09
Lyn was at the hospital at 6AM armed with all of your prayers, Her I pod and her Brother Ray that is there to give her the support she is going to need to get thru this day. Thank you Ray for all you do. The Other support system at hospital were Rob’s Dad and step sister Tiffany all concerned family. Jodi spoke with rob last night she said his spirit was good. Lyn and Ray had Rob laughing on the way down to the operating room. They Gave him a shot of happy juice about 7:15 am Central Time the operation was put back until 8 am Central. They apparently give the waiting family a alphanumeric pager so they can get hourly updates of what is going on during the operation. What a neat idea foe instant information. as soon as I get more information I will post it. Rob is In the Surgeon and Gods hands now.
